The monochrome Globe is the quietest graphic in the range — the design carried entirely in tone, with no colour to date it. On a helmet likely to be kept for years, that is a practical argument rather than an aesthetic one.

Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about

🔵 A rating and a pass mark are different things. ECE 22-06 P/J is a pass mark that every helmet sold in Europe must meet; the SHARP star rating is a comparative measure of how far beyond that minimum a helmet performs.

About the Globe Black Grey graphic

Tonal graphics age far better than coloured ones because colours belong to seasons and values do not. A black and grey treatment reads as design rather than as a marker of when the helmet was bought — and on a touring helmet that will outlast at least one motorcycle, that matters. It is also the best of the three Globes at hiding dirt, since both values are dark enough to absorb road film. 🔵 Conspicuity is correspondingly low, and on a helmet used for motorway distance into dusk that is the trade you are making.

P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar

🔵 The safety mechanism on the release button is worth knowing about because you will meet it every time. It prevents the chin bar being opened accidentally — by a glove, by luggage, by a hand reaching for a vent — which is a real failure mode on flip-ups without one.

The pivot itself is the Super Locker, and the helmet is P/J homologated.

The X-Matrix2 shell

The structure is a fibreglass multi-composite shell over an EPS impact liner, with the hinge, seal and pivot reinforcement adding the weight a flip-up always carries over a fixed full-face.

🔵 A crushed EPS liner does not recover. After a real impact the helmet is finished, whatever it looks like from outside.

96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal

Perceived noise depends more on your motorcycle than on your helmet — a tall touring screen putting turbulent air at head height will make any helmet loud. The X.LIFETOUR's 96 dB result is a reference point rather than a promise.

🔵 It is, however, a genuinely low reference point: 5 out of 5, the best of any Nexx helmet independently tested.

X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors

🔵 On a flip-up you can also simply open the chin bar, which clears a fogged visor faster than any ventilation setting. That is one of the underrated practical advantages of the format, and it is legal here because the helmet is P/J homologated.

The visor itself carries a fitted Pinlock 70 MaxVision lens, with a second clear visor supplied.

Two closable intakes and two air chambers

What ventilation actually manages is humidity as much as heat: sweat that cannot evaporate stays in the liner, and a saturated liner ends a long day early. The Morpho-Fit interior's multi-channel ventilation works on that alongside the vents.

🔵 A new helmet should feel firm but never painful. The liner beds in over the first few hours and again across the first season, so a helmet that is perfect in the shop will usually be loose by the end of the summer. Start tighter than comfortable.

The anti-noise cheek pads are part of the acoustic package as well as the fit, so replacing them with generic pads will cost you quiet.

Around 1.8 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 If weight is your priority, a fixed full-face is the answer rather than a lighter flip-up — the format carries its penalty in the hinge, and no shell material removes it.

The X.LIFETOUR is around 1800 g ±50 in composite and 1750 g in carbon, both as claimed by Nexx.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

Flip-up touring helmets are the most cross-shopped category there is, and the honest comparison is against Shoei's Neotec and Schuberth's C-series rather than within Nexx's range. Those cost considerably more and score higher with SHARP.

🔵 What the X.LIFETOUR offers is a measured 96 dB at a much lower price, with P/J homologation and two visors in the box.

Comms, cameras and spare parts

🔵 When replacing cheek pads, fit Nexx's own. The anti-noise pads on this helmet are acoustic components as well as padding, and generic equivalents will cost you part of the 96 dB result.

The same applies to the neck roll, which steers wind away from the base of the helmet.
