DescriptionThe whole story

Wild Blue is the only solid colour in the range and the most practical finish here. Deep blue is dark enough to hide a week of trail dust and coloured enough not to read as another black helmet.

Versatile in two directions — and what the peak costs

The case for this format is genuine: on a long trip you open the chin bar at every border, fuel stop and photograph, and you fit the peak when the surface changes. Nothing else does both.

🔵 The case against is equally clear — it is the heaviest helmet Nexx makes, measured at over two kilograms with accessories fitted.

An adjustable peak matters more than a fixed one on a helmet used at both trail and motorway speed. Set it lower for shade and roost; set it flatter to reduce lift on a long transfer.

🔵 Or take it off. Removing the peak is a one-minute job and turns this into a touring flip-up.

About the Wild Blue finish

Deep blue is consistently under-chosen on adventure helmets and it is the most practical coloured finish available. Fine trail dust reads as a grey haze against black and as an obvious film against pale colours; against a deep blue it largely disappears, which over a two-week trip means a helmet that still looks presentable rather than merely clean-ish. It also works across bike brands rather than tying the helmet to one, which matters on a helmet likely to outlast the motorcycle under it. 🔵 Conspicuity sits above the black and well below the neon Terra — worth weighing on unlit roads.

P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar

Corrosion resistance in the closure hardware is not a marketing point on a helmet used off tarmac. Dust, water crossings and years are what kill a chin-bar mechanism, and a seized pivot ends a flip-up.

🔵 Nexx uses stainless steel and special aluminium throughout, with a Super Locker pivot that locks in both positions.

The X-Matrix2 shell

Four market homologations apply to both shells: ECE 22-06 P/J, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022 and NBR7471:2015. The shell material is a weight and cost decision rather than a certification one.

This one is X-Matrix2 fibreglass multi-composite in two outer sizes.

2042 grams — the number to weigh

Weight matters most at the end of a long day and least in the first ten minutes, which is why it is the specification most often underweighted when buying. On a helmet over two kilograms kitted, six hours is a genuinely different experience from two.

🔵 The carbon versions save 150 g stripped, and removing the peak saves more perceived load again.

X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors

Two clear visors in the box is unusual and genuinely useful on an adventure helmet, where a stone strike can end a visor rather than merely scratching it. A spare turns that into a five-minute job at the roadside.

🔵 Both run on the tool-free X-SWIFT mechanism, and the fitted one carries a Pinlock 70 MaxVision anti-fog lens.

Two closable intakes and the Mid Airflow Chamber

The Mid Airflow Chamber routes air through the structure around the head rather than merely passing it over the crown under the liner, which is what allows a two-intake system to move a useful volume.

🔵 It is patent-pending, and the measured result — 4/5 — supports it.

101 decibels — and what the peak costs

A peak is an aerofoil and it makes noise; no adventure helmet escapes that. What this one offers against it is a comprehensive sealing package and a peak that removes without tools.

🔵 Measured: 101 dB at 130 km/h, scored 3/5 — average for a peaked helmet, and 5 dB above the same helmet without one.

Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.

F.R.S.® — the Fast Release System — lets the cheek pads come out tool-free. The everyday use is cleaning; the important one is emergency removal, where a first responder can take the helmet off without forcing it past the jaw.

🔵 On a flip-up the chin bar can also be opened first, which makes removal easier again.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

Against Nexx's fixed adventure helmets — the X.WED3 and the X.RALLY — the trade is convenience against weight. Those are 200–400 g lighter and cannot open at a stop; this one can, and charges you for it.

🔵 The X.RALLY is also considerably more capable off-road.

Comms, cameras and spare parts

The removable wind deflector and breath guard are supplied and both are worth fitting. The deflector closes the gap under the chin bar — the main noise path — and the breath guard stops exhaled air misting the visor at a standstill.

🔵 Both come out in summer if you prefer the airflow.

“At 2,042 g measured this is the heaviest helmet in our entire range — nearly 700 g more than the X.RALLY carbon. Add ventilation that Bennetts call disappointing for an adventure helmet and the case gets hard to make, clever flip front or not.”
