Arrow B3 is fluorescent yellow under a matt finish and by a wide margin the most visible helmet in the Cosmo SV range. On an open-face ridden in city traffic all year, that is a specification rather than a preference.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

People assume a jet is a fair-weather helmet and a full-face is a serious one. Neither is quite right. The Cosmo SV is a properly engineered helmet — HIRP shell, dual homologation, a patented visor system — for a category that leaves the face open.

🔵 That opening is the absence of a chin bar, and it is why a full-face protects more.

About the Arrow B3 finish

Fluorescent pigments convert ultraviolet into visible light, which is why they appear to glow rather than merely to be bright — and why they keep working in exactly the conditions where ordinary colours fail: overcast mornings, dusk, rain and the flat grey of a winter commute. On a jet the argument is stronger than on a full-face, because a jet is almost always an urban helmet and urban light is almost always flat. 🔵 Fluorescent fades faster than any other pigment type under sustained sun, and no care regime stops it — only storage out of direct light slows it down.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 and DOT

🔵 A thermoplastic shell is not a lesser shell, it is a different manufacturing route — and in the demi-jet class it is the standard one. What matters is the approval it holds, and this helmet holds two.

ECE 22.06 for Europe, DOT for the United States, on a HIRP shell in sizes XS to 3XL.

MT-ESP — a full-coverage sun visor on a jet

🔵 Keep the sun shield as clean as the main visor. It is the surface closest to your eyes, easy to forget because it lives inside the shell, and a fingerprint on it is far more visible than one outside.

Clean it wet, never dry — it scratches as readily as the outer visor.

The MT-V-37 visor and the patented MT-QVSS

The visor and the sun shield do different jobs and both are worth understanding. The extended MT-V-37 handles wind, rain and insects; the MT-ESP shield behind it handles glare.

🔵 Neither takes a Pinlock lens, because none is made for this visor.

Active ventilation and the removable rear deflector

🔵 Riders coming from a full-face notice two things immediately on a demi-jet: how much cooler it is, and how much more they can hear. Both come from the same source, and neither is a ventilation feature.

What the active system adds is crown airflow, and the removable deflector lets you trade some of it for quiet.

The MT-Micrometric+ closure

🔵 Two things to get right before your first ride: the strap length, set bare-handed at home, and the fit itself. Neither can be corrected on the road, and the closure only solves the first.

The Cosmo SV uses MT-Micrometric+ with a minimum two-tooth anchorage.

Interior, fit and intercom preparation

🔵 MT lists this helmet under its EcoConscious programme. That is a materials and production commitment rather than a claim about how the helmet performs, and we report it as such.

What it does not change is the maintenance: wash the lining a few times a season and it will last considerably longer.

MT's UCS MT-Rider Sync is designed around this shell, which means the mounting and the speaker positions are accounted for rather than improvised. A third-party unit will physically work; it will not use any of that.

The weight figure, and the rest of the honest list

What you are buying at 106 € is a demi-jet with the equipment of a considerably more expensive helmet and the shell material of an inexpensive one. That is a fair trade for city use and a poor one for long distances.

🔵 MT quotes 1.5 kg; retail listings suggest less; nobody has verified either.

Seven sizes from XS to 3XL make this one of the more accommodating demi-jets available, which matters because open-face helmets are frequently bought by riders who found full-face helmets uncomfortable.

When something wears out

🔵 Keep a spare clear visor if you ride year-round. There is no Pinlock option for the MT-V-37, so a badly scratched or fogged visor is a genuine problem on a winter morning rather than an inconvenience.
