DescriptionThe whole story▼
Flow in white and grey is the most understated graphic in this range: a tonal pattern on a pale base, which gives you the visibility of a white helmet without the blankness of one.
1350 grams, and why that is the headline
Weight matters most in two places: at the end of a long day, and in the moment your head is thrown by an impact. Less mass on your neck is better in both.
🔵 1350 g ±50 g, mid-size shell, without accessories fitted.
HPTT shell, three shell sizes and ECE 22.06
Three shells, eight sizes, one specification: every finish on this page uses the identical HPTT shell and the identical liner, plain or graphic.
🔵 The difference between the prices is paint. It is not construction.
No independent safety rating — and the trap that goes with it
🔵 If you want a rated helmet in LS2's range, the FF808 Stream II holds 4 SHARP stars and the carbon FF807 Dragon also holds 4.
The Rapid III is untested. That is a gap in the evidence, not a verdict — but if an independent rating is what you are shopping for, buy one of the helmets that has one.
About the Flow white and grey graphic
Tonal graphics are the hardest kind to get right, because everything depends on the difference in value between the two tones. Too close and the artwork disappears into the shell; too far apart and it stops being tonal and becomes a two-colour helmet. This one lands correctly — the pattern reads clearly at arm's length and resolves into a light-coloured helmet at distance, which is exactly what you want from a graphic that is not meant to be the point. That distance behaviour is also where the practical benefit sits. A driver at a junction is not reading your artwork; they are resolving a pale object at windscreen height, and this is a pale object. 🔵 The grey element takes some of white's maintenance sting out of it, but not much — expect to wash it more often than a dark helmet, and wash it wet rather than wiping it dry. If you are comparing it with the plain gloss white, the graphic costs a little more and gives you a helmet that looks considered rather than blank, with almost none of the conspicuity given away — the pale base is doing the same work in both cases. Of the fifteen graphics here this is the one that will look least dated in five years, because tonal patterns age far more slowly than coloured ones do.
What this helmet does not have: an internal sun visor
🔵 A frank comparison inside LS2's own range. Rapid III: 1350 g, no sun visor. Stream II: 1550 g, drop-down shield and a 4-star SHARP rating.
Neither is the better helmet in the abstract. They are answers to different questions.
Chin and top intakes, channelled EPS
🔵 The ventilation rating on this page is a construction assessment, not a measurement. Two intake paths, channelled EPS, rear exhausts and a breath deflector is a complete arrangement on paper.
How much air it actually moves has not been measured by anyone independent, and we are not going to invent a figure.
Anti-fog — prepared for, not supplied
„MaxVision" describes the shape — the lens runs closer to the visor edges, so the treated area covers more of what you actually look through. „70" is the performance grade.
🔵 The Rapid III takes this lens. It does not include it.
Lining, closure and everyday comfort
A chin curtain is fitted as standard, which cuts turbulence and cold air coming up from under the chin bar. It removes in seconds for summer.
🔵 Wind noise itself is left unrated on this page — no independent measurement exists for this helmet.
Where it sits in LS2's range
For a first full-face, or a second helmet to keep for pillions and lending out, the Rapid III makes a great deal of sense — three shell sizes and 1350 g at this price is unusual.
🔵 Budget for the anti-fog insert on top.
Care and replacement parts
Store it somewhere dark, dry and cool. UV degrades lacquer and graphics, heat degrades EPS, and a helmet left on a rear parcel shelf through one summer ages several years.
🔵 A cloth bag is better than a sealed plastic one, which traps moisture against the lining.
In the box
- LS2 FF820 Rapid III helmet — Flow, White and grey (HPTT shell)
- Clear outer visor, fitted
- Chin curtain, fitted and removable
- Breath deflector, fitted and removable
- 🔵 No internal sun visor — this model does not have one
- 🔵 No Pinlock insert — the visor is prepared for a Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™, which is sold separately
- 🔵 No second visor and no intercom — both are separate purchases
Size guide
Keep a new helmet on for ten minutes before deciding. Pressure barely noticeable in the first thirty seconds is the only thing you can think about after an hour.
🔵 It should be firm everywhere and painful nowhere.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF820 Rapid III
- Part number — 168200302
- Colour — Flow — White and grey
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP has no entry for the FF820, Rapid III or Rapid 3 (brand list checked directly). The 2-star result under „FF353 Rapid" belongs to the previous-generation helmet — different shell, different standard — and is deliberately not carried over. No ADAC or Certimoov result either
- Shell — HPTT injection-moulded thermoplastic; three shell sizes (2XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)
- Weight — approx. 1350 g (±50 g), mid-size shell without accessories
- Sizes — 2XS to 3XL (eight sizes)
- 🔴 Sun visor — none. This helmet has no drop-down internal shield — unlike LS2's FF808 Stream II, FF811 Vector II and FF817 Challenger II. It is most of the reason it weighs 1350 g
- Visor — clear outer visor, scratch-resistant, tool-free change
- 🔴 Anti-fog — prepared for Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ — the insert is NOT included. The pins are fitted; the lens is a separate purchase
- Ventilation — chin and top intakes feeding channelled EPS, with rear exhausts — two intake paths, one more than the FF817. 🔵 Assessed from the published construction; no independent airflow measurement exists
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
- Retention — ratchet buckle
- Interior — hypoallergenic, antibacterial, fully removable and washable. 🔵 No branded wicking fabric (no COOLMAX or X-Static) and no magnetic wind deflector — both appear further up LS2's range
- Included — chin curtain and breath deflector, both fitted and removable
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — visors, cheek pads in several thicknesses, complete lining, chin curtain, breath deflector and vent covers all available separately
- Replacement guidance — after about five years regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
