DescriptionThe whole story▼
Grid in matt black and grey is the most restrained graphic on this shell — a geometric pattern worked entirely in tone, with the carbon weave still reading through it.
A carbon shell in six sizes
Carbon is chosen for stiffness at low mass rather than for being unbreakable. A stiffer shell spreads impact load across a wider area of EPS than a more flexible one, and does so at less weight on your neck.
🔵 What it does not do is survive an impact and carry on. Like every helmet this one is finished after one — and carbon hides that damage better than composite does.
No rating of its own — and what does transfer from the composite
🟢 What does carry over is the Certimoov assessment — but only in part. The University of Strasbourg rated the FF811 platform 3.5 of 5, testing an FF811 Splitter in fibreglass.
🔵 Its praise for compactness („6 shell sizes!") and field of vision applies here, because the shell geometry is shared. Its impact scores do not, because the material is different.
Airflow that reaches your head
🔵 Ventilation is left unrated on this page. No independent test measures airflow on the carbon version, and a manufacturer's feature list is not a measured result.
What is documented is the layout: chin and forehead intakes, ducts through the EPS, rear exit. That is a description rather than a verdict.
About the Grid matt black and grey graphic
Monochrome graphics are harder to execute than coloured ones because every decision comes down to value rather than hue: too little separation between the tones and the pattern vanishes, too much and it becomes a two-tone helmet with a hard line through it. On a carbon shell there is a third element to balance, since the weave itself has a texture that can fight a fine pattern. This one holds all three together, and the result is a helmet whose graphic is clearly present in raking light and almost invisible in flat light — it changes as you walk around it, which a plain carbon finish does not do. 🔵 Practically it behaves like the matt carbon version: it hides handling marks and road film well, and it is harder for a driver to resolve in poor light than any of the pale or fluorescent finishes here. Matt is washed and never polished; abrasive compound leaves a permanent shiny scar on a flat coat. Compared with the plain matt carbon at 322 €, the 17 € buys a pattern that appears and disappears with the light and nothing else — the shell, the liner and the box contents are identical. If you want the discretion without the graphic, the plain finish answers the same question for less money.
Three visors, one helmet
The drop-down sun visor is the one you will actually use day to day: one slide of the lever brings it down, another puts it away completely inside the shell — far easier than fighting sunglasses on under a helmet.
🔵 Certimoov named the sun visor mechanism on this platform as a point LS2 could improve, and that assessment applies here too.
Holding on, and letting go
Correct strap tension: snug under the jaw with room for one finger and no more. If you can roll the helmet forward off your head with the strap fastened, it is loose or the wrong size.
🔵 A ratchet holds at a preset length and that length drifts as the padding beds in — re-check it after the first rides and each season after.
The part you actually touch
Laser-cut edges matter more than they sound. A stitched or crushed seam inside a helmet is a ridge, and a ridge sitting on your forehead for four hours becomes the only thing you can think about.
🔵 The whole interior lifts out by hand, and cheek pads are available in other thicknesses.
Carbon or composite — which Vector II to buy
Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint: the two plain carbon finishes at 322 € and the nine graphics at 339 € share one shell and one equipment list.
🔵 The cheapest Vector II Carbon is identical in every specification to the most expensive.
Care and replacement parts
Look after the visors above everything else. Never wipe either dry — grit dragged across a hardcoat leaves fine scratches, and scratches flare into a starburst against oncoming headlights.
🔵 Wet, wash, dry with something clean and soft.

Size guide
A tape gets you to the right size; it cannot tell you about head shape. If a correctly-measured helmet presses at the temples while gapping at the forehead, that is shape rather than size.
🔵 With nine sizes on six shells you have more chance of avoiding that here than almost anywhere.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon
- Part number — 168115311
- Colour — Grid — Matt black and grey over carbon
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP's „LS2 Vector 2" 4 stars (02/2025) records composite fibre, 1.5 kg — the HPFC version, not this carbon at 1400 g. Not carried over
- 🟢 What does transfer — Certimoov rated the FF811 platform 3.5/5 on a fibreglass Splitter. Compactness and field of vision transfer (shared geometry); impact scores do not. 🔵 criticised: getting the helmet on, and the sun visor mechanism
- Shell — 6K woven carbon, structural — not a carbon-look wrap; six shell sizes (2XS–XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL–3XL–4XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS with ventilation ducts moulded through the foam
- Weight — approx. 1400 g (±50 g). 🔵 the composite Vector II is 1500 g — carbon saves 100 g for about 100 € more
- Sizes — XXS to 4XL (nine sizes). Shell prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit; no system supplied
- Visor — wide, hardcoated, UV-protected, quick-change
- Sun visor — integrated drop-down shield, stowing fully inside the shell. 🔵 Certimoov called the mechanism improvable
- 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™, a complete tinted visor, a carrying backpack and reflective stickers
- 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
- Ventilation — Dynamic Flow-Through — chin and forehead intakes, ducts in the EPS, rear exit. 🔵 left unrated: nothing measured on the carbon version
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
- Retention — reinforced strap, micrometric metal fastener, emergency-release tabs for the cheek pads
- Interior — breathable, hypoallergenic, X-Static® silver, laser-cut, removable. 🔵 the composite Vector II is not listed with X-Static
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — both visors, sun visor, Pinlock insert, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining and vent covers
- Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — carbon hides a crushed liner
