Royal Blue/Red: Leatt's adventure entry in team colours
White, navy and red is a combination that has dressed rally bikes for decades, and on this ADV 7.5 it gives the entry model of Leatt's adventure helmets a proper race-team look. The kit includes the helmet with peak and clear visor, a Velocity 2.5 goggle and a carry bag, and the helmet is approved to ECE 22.06 and DOT. Before you look at the graphics, it is worth understanding where the 7.5 sits in the range, because that decides whether it is the right helmet for you.
Choosing between ADV 7.5, 8.5 and 9.5
All three share Leatt's four-way concept, the 360° Turbine Technology and the extra wide eye port. They differ in shell material, visor package and the goggle in the box:
| Model | Shell | Weight (Leatt) | Visors in the box | Pinlock lens | Goggle in the kit | Strap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ADV 7.5 | Injected polymer compound, 3 shell sizes | No size-specific figure published | Clear, anti-scratch | Visor is Pinlock-ready, no lens supplied | Velocity 2.5 | Double-D |
| ADV 8.5 | Three-layer composite (fibreglass), 3 shell sizes | 1,575 g ± 50 g (M/L) | Photochromic + clear | 120 XLT MaxVision included | Velocity 4.5 | Double-D |
| ADV 9.5 | Six-layer carbon matrix, 3 shell sizes | 1,490 g ± 50 g (M/L) | Photochromic + clear | 120 XLT MaxVision included | Velocity 4.5 Iriz | Fidlock magnetic |
Put simply: the 7.5 is the most robust starting point, with a tough injected polymer shell and the goggle included. The 8.5 adds a fibreglass composite shell, a photochromic visor and an anti-fog lens. The 9.5 goes to carbon, adds a four-density EPS and a magnetic Fidlock buckle.
Who is the 7.5 for, then? Riders who spend part of each trip on gravel, want the goggle option from day one, and prefer to spend their budget on luggage, tyres or a trip rather than on a lighter shell. If you ride mostly on tarmac and dislike fogging, the 8.5's included anti-fog lens and photochromic visor are worth the step up. If weight matters most, for example on long enduro days, the carbon 9.5 is the lightest of the three by Leatt's figures.
About the Royal Blue/Red finish
The base colour is white. Royal blue fills the lower chin area and the rear, and it is cut by sharp, saw-tooth shapes that run from the back of the shell toward the peak. A red stripe follows the lower edge on the side, and the Leatt logo on the chin is blue on white. The peak repeats the blue-and-white zigzag. In the pictures the shell has a gloss finish, which keeps the colours bright and makes insects and road film easy to remove. White surfaces also show mud more clearly, so you will clean this one more often than the Black.
The red-white-blue scheme is busy enough to hide small scratches in the graphic areas, while the white crown stays easy to spot from a distance. It also suits a lot of rally-inspired bikes and riding kits without needing an exact colour match.
The polymer shell: what it means for you
Leatt specifies an injected polymer compound as the shell material, about 65 percent of the helmet by composition, with EPS foam making up a further quarter. Injected thermoplastic shells are produced in a mould under pressure, so every shell is identical and tolerant of everyday knocks. The trade-off is weight: composite and carbon shells of the same size are usually lighter, which is reflected in the published figures for the 8.5 and 9.5. For the 7.5, Leatt gives no size-specific weight.
Spares and Leatt's replacement programme
A helmet that sees gravel will lose a peak or scratch a visor at some point. Leatt lists replacement visors in photochromic, Iriz Silver mirror and smoke, sold separately, and spare parts are available for the helmet. In addition, Leatt runs a three-year crash replacement programme. If you need a single part, ask us and we will check what Leatt can supply.
The Velocity 2.5 goggle
The kit ships with Leatt's Velocity 2.5 goggle. With the visor removed and the mechanism covers fitted, the ADV 7.5 behaves like an enduro helmet, and the extra wide eye port takes the goggle frame without pinching. Leatt does not specify the lens tint for this kit, so we do not describe it.
Fit the goggle strap over the back of the shell and centre it so it does not press on the peak mounts. With a pack or hydration system on your back, check that the strap does not push the helmet forward when you look up.
Rotational protection
Leatt's 360° Turbine Technology uses flexible elements inside the helmet that turn and compress in an oblique impact. According to Leatt they reduce concussion-level forces by up to 30 percent and rotational acceleration by up to 40 percent. Combined with ECE 22.06, which now includes an oblique impact test with a brain injury criterion, eighteen possible impact points and testing at several speeds, this makes the 7.5 a modern helmet in safety terms. DOT covers the US standard.
Wind noise
No decibel figure exists for the 7.5, so we do not publish one. The shell was shaped in the wind tunnel, and a chin curtain together with snug cheek pads seals the lower opening. A peak adds some noise on fast roads; earplugs are the honest answer for long motorway days.
Size and shell
Six sizes, three outer shells. Measure your head around the forehead just above the eyebrows.
Take two measurements, one straight above the eyebrows and one slightly higher, and use the larger. Between two sizes, try both if you can: the smaller one usually feels better after a few hours, once the pads have bedded in.
| Size | Head circumference | Leatt article no. |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 53-54 cm | 1026001700 |
| S | 55-56 cm | 1026001701 |
| M | 57-58 cm | 1026001702 |
| L | 59-60 cm | 1026001703 |
| XL | 61-62 cm | 1026001704 |
| XXL | 63-64 cm | 1026001705 |
The Pro-Fit liner and cheek pads are washable and antimicrobial; vents can be closed, and aftermarket communication systems fit.
Limitations
No Pinlock lens in the box, although the visor is ready for one. No internal sun visor listed by Leatt. No published weight per size. No independent test available yet. If any of these points matters to you, the ADV 8.5 is the step to look at. For many riders, though, a separately bought anti-fog lens is all the 7.5 needs.
