DescriptionThe whole story▼
Black/Bronze: for riders who start on tarmac and finish on gravel
Some adventure helmets are really road helmets with a peak bolted on. The ADV 7.5 was built the other way round: a dual-sport lid whose eye port takes a goggle properly, and Leatt puts that goggle in the box. This Black/Bronze kit arrives with the helmet, its clear anti-scratch visor already mounted, and a Velocity 2.5 goggle, so the first ride can include both the highway stretch and the forest track that follows. It is homologated to ECE 22.06 and DOT, built around an injected polymer shell in three outer sizes.
About the Black/Bronze finish
The base is a deep, flat-looking black, and a warm bronze band runs along the lower edge of the shell and sweeps up toward the rear. The Leatt lettering on the chin and the triangle logo on the brow pick up the same metallic copper tone, while the goggle strap that ships with this kit carries a black and grey Leatt print that suits it. It is a restrained colourway with one warm accent, a good fit for brown, khaki or olive riding gear, which so many touring jackets come in. A matt-looking surface hides small marks from luggage and fuel stops well; it does take a little more care when cleaning, because rubbing hard with a dry cloth can polish shiny spots into a satin surface. Lukewarm water and a soft microfibre cloth are enough.
The bronze also has a practical side: on a bike park or ferry deck full of black helmets, yours is the one you find first.
What the goggle adds, and why it matters off-road
On a slow, technical climb your body produces far more heat than wind can remove. A closed visor fogs, and once you lift it, dust coats the inside. A goggle solves that: its foam seals the area around the eyes and the vents let the lens breathe. That is why the Velocity 2.5 belongs to this kit and not just to a list of options. Pop the visor off with the tool-free release, fit the supplied covers over the hinge points, and the helmet works like a motocross lid with a peak. Leatt describes the eye port as extra wide precisely so the goggle frame is not squeezed. A lens tint is not confirmed by Leatt for this kit, which is why we leave it unnamed.
Shell construction and how the sizing is split
Leatt's composition data puts the helmet at roughly two thirds injected polymer compound, a quarter EPS foam, a small share of polyester for the liner and stainless steel for the D-rings and fasteners. Injected polymer is the typical material in this class: tough, consistent from shell to shell, but a little heavier than glass or carbon layups. Three shell sizes serve six head sizes from 53 to 64 cm, so two sizes share each shell. That is a finer split than the one or two shells some entry helmets use, and it keeps the helmet from looking oversized on smaller riders.

| XS | 53-54 cm | 1026001550 |
| S | 55-56 cm | 1026001551 |
| M | 57-58 cm | 1026001552 |
| L | 59-60 cm | 1026001553 |
| XL | 61-62 cm | 1026001554 |

The test behind the ECE 22.06 label
Every helmet in this kit carries ECE 22.06. What makes this version meaningful: the lab can hit any of eighteen points rather than five; impact speeds vary; a sliding, angled strike on a rough surface checks rotational loading; the visor is part of the approval and is tested on the helmet. A brain injury criterion was introduced for those oblique hits. Old 22.05 stock may no longer be sold new in Europe since early 2024. The DOT sticker covers the American FMVSS 218 standard as well.
What this helmet does not do
We would rather you know these points before ordering than after:
- No Pinlock lens supplied. The visor accepts one, but the anti-fog insert must be bought separately. Some product data mention an included 120 XLT lens; Leatt's own kit page and the trade press describe the 7.5 as Pinlock-ready only.
- No internal sun visor is listed by Leatt for this model. Plan on a tinted spare visor or a tinted goggle lens for bright days.
- No independent weight figure. Leatt does not publish a size-specific weight for the 7.5, so we do not print one.
- No independent test so far. We found no lab or magazine review of this exact model.
Comparing the ADV range side by side
| Model | Shell | Weight (Leatt) | Visors in the box | Pinlock lens | Goggle in the kit | Strap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ADV 7.5 | Injected polymer compound, 3 shell sizes | No size-specific figure published | Clear, anti-scratch | Visor is Pinlock-ready, no lens supplied | Velocity 2.5 | Double-D |
| ADV 8.5 | Three-layer composite (fibreglass), 3 shell sizes | 1,575 g ± 50 g (M/L) | Photochromic + clear | 120 XLT MaxVision included | Velocity 4.5 | Double-D |
| ADV 9.5 | Six-layer carbon matrix, 3 shell sizes | 1,490 g ± 50 g (M/L) | Photochromic + clear | 120 XLT MaxVision included | Velocity 4.5 Iriz | Fidlock magnetic |
If an anti-fog lens and a photochromic visor matter on your trips, the 8.5 bundles both; if you spend most of the day off-road and want the goggle, the 7.5 kit already covers that.
Comfort over a long day
Leatt's Pro-Fit elastic liner is built to adapt to the head shape instead of pressing on single points, and both liner and cheek pads come out for washing, with an antimicrobial treatment against odour on multi-day tours. Closable vents let you shut the airflow on cold passes. The emergency cheek-pad release is there for medics, not for you, but it is worth showing your riding partners where the tabs are.
Wind and noise without invented numbers
There is no published decibel value for the 7.5, and we won't make one up. Leatt shaped the shell in a wind tunnel and seals the bottom with a chin curtain and close-fitting cheek pads. Expect a peaked helmet to be louder than a sport-touring full-face at high speed; wear earplugs on long motorway sections.
Keeping it going
Spare visors in photochromic, Iriz Silver mirror and smoke are listed by Leatt and sold separately. Communication sets from the aftermarket generally fit. The three-year crash replacement programme applies, and parts such as peaks and pads are available.
Between trips, the supplied Leatt carry bag keeps the shell and visor free of scratches in a pannier or top box; put the goggle inside the helmet so its foam keeps its shape. A cool, dry shelf away from fuel cans and solvents is the right place for storage, since both can attack EPS and paint.
