How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

Carrying the ECE 22.06 homologation — the most stringent UN helmet safety standard currently in force — the Arai RX-7V Evo in the Shinya 99 Nakano Replica livery is both a serious piece of racing protection and a tribute to the Japanese MotoGP and WSBK icon. Rounder, Smoother, Stronger: Arai's founding philosophy is built directly into every curve of the fibreglass-composite shell, engineered to deflect and disperse impact energy rather than absorb it head-on.
Key Features
- ECE 22.06 certified — meets the latest UN regulation for road and race-oriented use, offering verified protection standards for every ride.
- Fiberglass-composite shell with Arai's Glancing Off geometry, designed to redirect rotational and direct impact forces away from the rider's head.
- VAS MAX Vision visor as standard, delivering an exceptionally wide field of view and quick, tool-free replacement on track or road.
- Pinlock anti-fog insert included — eliminates visor misting in cold, wet or humid conditions without compromising optical clarity.
- Eco Pure interior lining: fully removable, machine washable and antibacterial, keeping the helmet fresh across long riding seasons.
- Brain Protection System integrated into the shell construction for an additional layer of rotational impact mitigation.
- Five-year Arai warranty — a manufacturer commitment that reflects the build quality rather than simply stating it.
Safety, Certification and Shell Construction
The RX-7V Evo represents Arai's evolution of an already class-leading platform, updated expressly to achieve ECE 22.06 approval. This certification involves more demanding impact test points, higher energy thresholds and stricter visor retention requirements than its predecessor standard, making compliance a genuine engineering achievement rather than a formality. The fibreglass-composite shell is hand-finished and shaped around Arai's Peripheral Belt Structure, which distributes load across the entire helmet rather than concentrating stress at a single impact zone. The result is a shell that is simultaneously lightweight, rigid where rigidity protects and compliant where compliance absorbs.
The Double-D ring retention system — the recognised racing-standard closure — ensures the helmet remains securely positioned under the dynamic loads of high-speed riding, with no risk of buckle failure or strap creep.
Visibility and Aerodynamics
The lateral air channels on the Evo have been repositioned rearward compared to the previous RX-7V, refining the aerodynamic profile and improving airflow management at speed. At motorway and circuit velocities, this translates to a quieter, more planted helmet that requires less rider effort to hold steady. The VAS MAX Vision visor provides the widest field of view in Arai's range and accepts the included Pinlock 120 insert, which uses a silicone seal to trap a layer of insulating air and prevent condensation forming on the inner surface — a critical safety feature when riding in variable or cold weather.
Comfort and Interior
New cheek pads with hook-and-loop retention can be removed without tools, simplifying both cleaning and emergency access. The Eco Pure lining draws moisture away from the skin and resists bacterial growth, maintaining comfort on extended rides. The race-oriented fit of the RX-7V Evo is snug and performance-focused; riders who require spectacle accommodation will find the close shell geometry a limiting factor, and the helmet is not designed as an OTG (over-the-glasses) product. Bluetooth communication system compatibility is noted by SHARP's database for the RX-7V Evo platform, though fit will depend on the specific intercom unit chosen.
The Shinya 99 Nakano Replica Design
The Shinya 99 Nakano Replica livery recreates the helmet graphics associated with Shinya Nakano, the Japanese racer who competed at the highest levels of MotoGP and World Superbike. Rendered in a gloss finish over the fibreglass shell, the design is produced under Arai's exacting paint quality standards — the same process applied to helmets worn by Arai's contracted factory riders. It is a collector's piece with full road and track legal certification, not a cosmetic replica of diminished specification.
Size Guide — Arai RX-7V Evo
- XS: 53–54 cm head circumference
- S: 55–56 cm
- M: 57–58 cm
- L: 59 cm
- XL: 60–61 cm
Please note: at size XL the outer shell steps up one shell size (86 to 88), which slightly increases the external dimensions of the helmet.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Arai RX-7V Evo is approved for road use in all ECE 22.06 jurisdictions and is suitable for race-oriented road riding. It is not a race-track-only homologated helmet — ECE 22.06 covers both environments. Compatible with a range of Bluetooth intercom systems; SHARP lists communication system compatibility for the RX-7V Evo platform. Not recommended for spectacle wearers due to the close race-fit shell geometry.
