DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuka is an eight-hour endurance classic rather than a single sprint, and Shark marks Johann Zarco's history there with a dedicated matte livery, distinct from anything tied to a Grand Prix weekend. The shell here runs mostly white with brushed black graphic strokes and a pale blue wash worked through them, a red accent panel at the crown breaking up what would otherwise read as a two-tone scheme.
Homologated for the road, first
Before anything racing-specific applies, this shell has to clear ECE 22.06, the standard the EU made mandatory for new homologations from January 2024, replacing 22.05. The scale of the change: eighteen strike points on the shell where the old rule tested five, several speeds per point rather than one, and a new angled test against an abrasive anvil that twists the shell the way a real crash does rather than dropping it straight.
FIM racing homologation, not just a road certificate
Riding legally and racing legally are two different bars, and this helmet clears both: ECE 22.06 for the road, FIM FRHPhe-02 stacked on top of it for FIM-sanctioned racing. Every decor in this range, matte Suzuka livery included, carries the norm code 2206-FIM2 on Shark's own price data, apart from the plain 2206 that covers most of the rest of the catalogue.
Adaptive Aero System: the mechanism, not the marketing line
Underneath the graphics, the functional part of this shell sits at the tail: a spoiler that moves instead of staying still. Shark's Adaptive Aero System reads the rider's own build, the added bulk a race suit's hump puts behind the head, and the riding position in that exact moment, then adjusts rather than compromising for one fixed setup.
Shell material and sizing
Under this matte finish sits the same carbon-and-aramid COVA shell used across the range — around 80 per cent carbon fibre — built in two separate shell sizes so the smallest and largest heads on offer aren't sharing one stretched mould. A liner graded across four EPS densities varies its firmness by zone rather than using a single foam grade throughout, and the chinstrap closes with a double-D ring, which resists working loose under load in a way a quick-release buckle cannot always guarantee.
Weight over distance, not weight on a shelf
Mass is easy to ignore standing in a shop, harder to ignore an hour into a session. Shark's figure here is 1,480 g on the smaller of the two shells; the bigger shell, covering the larger sizes, should run somewhat heavier for the same build. Worth knowing: Shark states this FIM #2 generation kept the same weight, fit and aero behaviour as the FIM #1 model it replaces, rather than trading grams for the tighter racing certification described above.
Ventilation layout
Five intakes and seven extractors move air through this shell on a Double Venturi principle, developed in the same CFD pass that produced the rear spoiler. That shared process is why the vents sit inside the shell's aerodynamic profile rather than interrupting it — cooling and stability were solved together, not bolted on afterwards.
Visor and vision
220 degrees lateral, 57 vertical — that's the field of view from this Optical class 1 visor, mounted on a four-point anchor with side grip and locking pin. It ships tear-off ready, for riders who'd rather peel a layer than stop and clean mid-session. No Pinlock comes fitted as standard; anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings handle that instead, and the racing-tint range (dark smoke, chrome, gold, pink, silver) is explicitly for racing use only, with clear and TE35 the pair actually approved for the road.
Safety features, stated plainly
Firmness inside the EPS liner is graded across four separate zones, and Shark's own Emergency Remove System — cheek pads designed to pull free for emergency extraction without twisting the rider's neck — comes standard. No MIPS or equivalent rotational-impact system ships with this helmet; it's absent from every piece of Shark documentation checked for this model, an absence stated directly rather than glossed over.
Suzuka and Zarco's history there
Suzuka hosts an eight-hour endurance race rather than a standard Grand Prix sprint, and this matte livery marks Johann Zarco's history at that specific event, distinct from any Grand Prix-weekend colourway in this range. Zarco, a French rider born in 1990, won the Moto2 world championship in 2015 and heads into the 2026 MotoGP season with Castrol Honda LCR, having been Honda's highest-placed rider in both 2024 and 2025.
A three-tier ladder, not a single price point
Three real tiers make up Shark's Aeron line. Road-only, non-FIM Aeron and Aeron GP models start the ladder. Aeron GP FIM — the older FIM generation, FRHPhe rather than FRHPhe-02 — sits a step above. This decor tops the range, the gap over its FIM 1 predecessor spent on the stricter FIM #2 certification detailed earlier, not on the shell or aerodynamics.

Being straight about wind noise
There's no independently measured dB figure worth citing for this model, and none has been invented for this text. The genuine noise-reducing features are a seal around the visor opening and a chin curtain at the shell's base, closing the gaps most wind noise gets through.
Keeping it running
The title of Shark's shared spare-parts collection names Aeron, Aeron GP, Aeron GP FIM 1 and Aeron GP FIM 2 directly, confirming this exact model is covered. A visor scratched or torn in track use is a part to reorder, not a reason to shelve the whole helmet.
What's not included, said plainly
No MIPS or comparable rotational-impact system is fitted. This helmet has no standard Pinlock insert — anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment on the visor takes its place. There's no internal sun visor. A 4-star SHARP score does exist for a helmet called "Aeron GP", but it belongs to the separate non-FIM road model at a different price point, not to this FIM2-certified helmet, and it isn't applied here. There's no independently measured wind-noise figure for this model either.
