DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plain gloss white, no graphic, and the most quietly sensible choice here. On a helmet whose defining feature is a chin bar that swings all the way to the back of the shell, a single colour lets you actually see the shape doing it.
Four stars from SHARP — and this is the helmet they tested
🟢 This is the helmet SHARP tested. In July 2024 the UK Department for Transport's programme crashed an LS2 Advant X against ECE 22.06 and rated it 4 stars of 5.
🔵 SHARP recorded the tested helmet as composite fibre, 1.6 kg — which is this HPFC version at 1600 g, not the carbon Advant X. That one is listed on our site without a rating.
A flip-up with P/J dual homologation
The Advant X is a flip-up: the chin bar rotates a full 180 degrees to the rear of the shell rather than resting on the forehead, so it sits out of the airflow and out of your eyeline.
🟢 It carries P/J dual homologation, which means it is tested and approved to be ridden in both positions — closed as a full-face, open as a jet.
HPFC composite, multi-density EPS — and only two shell sizes
The shell is HPFC composite — the material SHARP recorded as composite fibre — over a multi-density EPS liner with moulded ventilation channels. The helmet weighs about 1600 g (±50 g).
🔵 There are two outer shell sizes for seven helmet sizes: XS–S–M–L and XL–2XL–3XL.
About the solid gloss white finish
The folded chin bar, the rear spoiler and the honeycomb exhaust all read as form on a plain shell and disappear into a pattern on a decorated one — which on a helmet at this level is worth something. The practical case runs alongside it and is stronger. A touring helmet passes hundreds of junctions in a day, and at each one a driver is deciding whether the gap is clear about an object at windscreen height. A light-valued object resolves there sooner than a dark one, and the margin widens as the light flattens. 🔵 There is a summer argument too: at 1600 g this is a helmet you wear for long stretches, and a white shell reflects solar load that a dark one converts into heat inside the liner. The cost is upkeep — fly strike and motorway film show clearly, and a distance helmet collects more of both than any other kind. Wash it wet; never take a dry cloth to a gloss surface. One further thought if you are torn between this and the Nardo grey at the same price. White is measurably easier for a driver to resolve on a grey afternoon; grey is measurably easier to live with on a helmet that gets handled at every fuel stop. Both are the same helmet, the same equipment and the same four-star result, so the decision is genuinely between conspicuity and upkeep rather than between better and worse.
Twin Visor, Pinlock 120 and a tinted spare
The Twin Visor System pairs the main screen with an internal sun visor that drops on a slider and retracts completely into the shell.
🟢 Two things ship in the box that are usually accessories: a Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ XLT anti-fog insert, and a complete second visor in a tint.
Chin and crown intakes, channelled EPS
Air enters at the chin and crown, crosses channels moulded into the multi-density EPS, and leaves through the exhaust port at the rear.
🔵 The channelling is the part that matters. Intakes and exhausts move air into and out of a shell; channels move it across your scalp in between, and plenty of helmets have the first without the second.
Metal buckle and the Emergency Release System
Retention is a micrometric metal buckle — a ratchet that fastens one-handed in gloves and returns to the same tension every time, with a metal mechanism rather than a plastic one.
🟢 An Emergency Release System is fitted: tabs that let responders withdraw the cheek pads before the helmet is moved.
Lining, comfort — and the X-Static this version does not have
The lining is removable, washable, breathable and hypoallergenic, on laser-cut foam — sealed cut faces rather than crushed ones, so the padding keeps its shape and does not shed at the edges.
🔵 There is no X-Static® silver treatment on this version. LS2 lists that only for the Advant X Carbon, and we are not going to imply it here.
Where it sits in LS2's range
The Advant X is LS2's composite touring modular, and the closest thing to it in the catalogue is its own carbon sibling.
🟢 This is the version SHARP rated at 4 stars. The Advant X Carbon uses a 6K carbon shell at 1550 g, saves 50 g, adds X-Static — and carries no test result.
Care and replacement parts
The parts that wear are all replaceable: both visors, the sun visor mechanism, cheek pads in several thicknesses, the complete lining, vent covers and the breath deflector.
🔵 The EPS is not among them. It crushes once and does not recover — and a composite shell can look untouched over a crushed liner.
