Nova in white is the brightest non-fluorescent finish here, and on a helmet built for long days in unfamiliar traffic it has the most straightforward case behind it.

Four stars from SHARP — and this is the helmet they tested

🔵 The identification is worth spelling out because model names blur. SHARP lists „ADVANT X" and records composite fibre / 1.6 kg / quick-release ratchet. LS2 builds this helmet in HPFC composite at 1600 g with a micrometric ratchet.

🟢 Three matches, no assumption. The rating is quoted here rather than merely referenced.

A flip-up with P/J dual homologation

🔵 The most common misunderstanding about flip-ups: that the open position is a legal grey area. With P/J it is not — the helmet has been tested as a jet and approved as one.

🟢 Without P/J it would be, and many modular helmets on sale carry P only.

HPFC composite, multi-density EPS — and only two shell sizes

🔵 A homologation is a threshold rather than a ranking. Every helmet legally sold in Europe clears ECE 22.06, so the plaque tells you the Advant X met the requirement — not by how much.

About the Nova white, blue and red graphic

What decides how quickly a driver resolves a helmet is its value rather than its hue, and a white-dominant finish sits at the top of that scale. Against dark tarmac, against a hedge, against the back of a lorry in flat winter light, it separates faster than any coloured finish and considerably faster than a dark one. The blue and red banding adds edge contrast on top of that, which is a second and independent mechanism: value gets you noticed, edges get you locked onto. Both are worth having on a helmet that spends whole days among drivers who have never seen you before. 🔵 There is a heat benefit as well — at 1600 g this is a helmet worn for long stretches, and a pale shell reflects solar load a dark one turns into liner temperature. The cost is washing: fly strike and motorway film show clearly, and touring produces plenty of both. If you are weighing this against the Spectrum black, white and red at the same price, the difference is base value and it is the whole decision. This is white-dominant and therefore near the top of the conspicuity scale; Spectrum is a dark helmet with white and red on it. The geometry differs too, but the practical gap between them is what a driver sees at fifty metres.

Twin Visor, Pinlock 120 and a tinted spare

Both screens are inside the ECE 22.06 approval rather than accessories added afterwards, because the current standard tests a helmet with everything fitted that will be sold on it.

Chin and crown intakes, channelled EPS

In summer the crown intake does the work and the chin bar comes up in traffic; in winter you close everything and rely on the Pinlock and the breath deflector.

Metal buckle and the Emergency Release System

🔵 The chin bar rotates 180 degrees and locks flat against the rear of the shell. Check that it seats fully each time — a bar that is nearly closed is not closed, and the P/J approval covers open and closed rather than in-between.

The lock is central and single-handed.

Lining, comfort — and the X-Static this version does not have

🔵 Breathable and hypoallergenic are meaningful specifications; antibacterial silver is a further one, and this helmet does not have it. The carbon Advant X does.

What actually prevents a helmet smelling is washing the lining, which takes two minutes here.

Where it sits in LS2's range

🟢 Against modulars from other brands at this money, the Advant X's arguments are the SHARP result, the P/J approval and the inclusion list. Many rivals sell the Pinlock and the tinted visor separately.

🔵 Add both before comparing sticker prices.

Care and replacement parts

The maintenance routine is short: wash the shell with warm water and a soft cloth, wash the lining in cool water a few times a season, never dry-wipe either screen, and keep the chin-bar mechanism clean.

🔵 Do those four and the only things that will end this helmet are age and impact.
