Sprint Filter publishes comparison retention figures for its woven media: 93.13 % of 100-micron test particles held by the P08 cloth, 95.22 % by the racing weave, 91.8 % by the water-repellent P037 on its own 37-micron test. For the non-woven mat inside PM127P14 it publishes a rating and a flow figure and no percentage at all. On a homologation special, where every component invites a numerical comparison, that gap deserves saying out loud.

What is quoted, and what is not
The percentages above come from a comparison the manufacturer ran on woven fabrics against a defined test dust, which is why they exist for those media and nowhere else. A rating in microns is a different kind of statement altogether: it describes the medium, not a result. Reading one as though it were the other is how specification sheets get misused, and on a bike bought partly for its numbers it is worth being clear that this one is not hiding a figure — it simply has not been given one.
Deciding without a percentage
What remains is perfectly usable. Fourteen microns against eighty describes which way retention moves; 1,800 l/m²/sec against 5,050 describes which way flow moves; and a 1199 R spends its life somewhere between paddock use and rare, careful road miles. If the machine sees circuits on clean surfaces, the woven element is the better match. If it sees summer roads and long periods between rides, this one is. Neither adds power to a standard Superquadro, and no honest description of either would claim so.
Care and cleaning
Ordinary servicing is compressed air applied to the clean face and blown outward, so that whatever the mat is holding leaves along the path it arrived by. When air stops being enough, use hand-warm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water is clear, and then let it dry right through in unheated air — no radiator, no gun, no flame. It is refitted dry, since PM127P14 has no coating to renew. Sprint Filter's servicing document is available under the Downloads tab.
