The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
The one real cost of an element you wash rather than replace is time, and on a journey that cost lands awkwardly. Air is quick: a mat blown through at the end of a dusty stage is back in the box within minutes and the bike leaves in the morning. Water is not. A washed element has to be dry right through before it goes back, and dry right through means hours in moving air — never twenty minutes over a heater.
Key Features
- Dry non-woven medium, unoiled from the first fitting to the last
- Rated at 14 microns of filtration with 1,800 l/m²/sec of flow
- Serviceable with any air line, from a workshop compressor to a tyre inflator
- Replaces the factory panel inside the standard box on the Enduro and Enduro Pro
- Water-washable when a stage has been genuinely bad, once there is time to dry it
- Two years of warranty from the purchase date
Air on the road, water at home
That division is worth planning around before departure rather than discovering halfway through. Compressed air is available almost anywhere a motorcycle can be refuelled, and it deals with the ordinary loading of a dusty day. Water is a job for a rest day or for the end of the trip, because the drying time is not negotiable and heat is not a shortcut — warmth is what destroys the medium, permanently and invisibly, and there is no way to test for the damage afterwards.
Why the routine matters more on a fine medium
A finer element does not last longer than a coarse one; at the same air volume it loads sooner, because it is catching material the coarse one waved through. That is the arithmetic behind the 14-micron rating, and it is why the Enduro is the machine in this family where the evening air line becomes a habit rather than an occasional job. Kept to that rhythm the mat works as intended. Left alone for a fortnight of unsealed roads it will not damage anything, but it will be doing its job through a narrower path than it started with — and none of this has anything to do with power.
Care and cleaning
On the road: air line to the clean side, directed outward, until the mat gives nothing up. At home, if the stage warranted it, wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse until nothing further comes away, and dry in air alone — heat of any sort, flames included, finishes the medium. It is refitted dry, and PM127P14 has no oiling stage to complete. The servicing notes from Sprint Filter are attached under Downloads.
