DescriptionThe whole story▼
Hadal is named after the deepest zone of the ocean and uses the palette to match — deep green and dark blue over exposed 3K weave. It is one of the two top finishes in the range and the more unusual of them.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
Independent evidence for a helmet sold on design is worth more than usual, and this one has two sources. A scored road test rated it 3.9/5 overall — noise 4/5, ventilation 4/5, comfort 4/5, weight 2/5 — and MOTORCYCLE NEWS gave it 4/5.
🔵 Neither is a laboratory safety rating. SHARP has not tested the X.WST3.
About the Hadal Carbon graphic
Graphics that incorporate exposed weave are the only ones where the construction is part of the appearance, and Hadal uses that deliberately: the carbon is one of the colours rather than a background the design sits on. Green and dark blue against dark weave keeps the whole thing in a narrow value range, so the helmet reads as a single deep object that resolves into a design up close. That is a considerably more sophisticated effect than a high-contrast livery. 🔵 The trade is conspicuity, which is low, and repairability — a scratch into exposed weave is permanent.
The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell
🔵 What carbon does not do is make a helmet safer by itself. The approvals, the EPS structure and the X-Foam bumper are identical between the two shells here. What it does is take off 75 g on a helmet whose weight was independently scored 2/5.
The construction is X-PRO Carbon 3K, 1600 g, in three outer shell sizes, made in Portugal.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
🔵 A structural comfort feature is harder to undo than a padding one. The rubber interlayer works whatever liner you fit and however the vents are set, which is not true of most comfort claims on a helmet.
Its purpose: damping the vibration that high-speed air turbulence transmits into the shell.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
The optical package on this helmet is more complete than the price suggests: Recoil visor with twin-lip seal, Pinlock 70 MaxVision fitted (DKS553), a second clear visor, a visor bag, and an internal sun visor 18 % larger than before.
🔵 Most helmets in this bracket supply one visor and sell the anti-fog lens separately.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
Airflow only happens if there is somewhere for the air to go, and two exhausts against six intakes only works because the internal chambers keep the path open. That is the design argument, and the measured result supports it: 4/5 for ventilation.
🔵 It is a road-speed system. In stationary traffic no helmet ventilates well.
How quiet it actually is
Independent testing scored noise 4/5, ventilation 4/5 and comfort 4/5, with an overall verdict of 3.9/5. The one weak mark was weight, at 2/5.
🔵 The measured noise figure behind that score was 100 dB average — genuinely good for a shell with a spoiler and six intakes.
Interior, retention and fit
🔵 Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description settles for you. A loose helmet moves under braking and rotates in a crash; a tight one produces a headache at forty minutes.
Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes. It should not be possible to rotate the helmet on your head by hand. Independent testing scored comfort 4/5.
1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list
Weight is the one specification this helmet loses on, and carbon narrows the gap rather than closing it. 1600 g against the composite's 1675 g — still scored 2 out of 5 in independent testing.
🔵 Everything else in the same test scored 4/5, and the overall verdict was 3.9/5.
Comms, camera and spare parts
The Pinlock lens is a consumable — the silicone seal loses grip and the surface clouds after a few seasons, and a fogged Pinlock is worse than none at all. The code for this helmet is DKS553.
🔵 It is specific to the X.WST3 and does not interchange with the lenses used on Nexx's adventure helmets.
