DescriptionThe whole story▼
A quiet weep of oil low on the crankcase is usually the first clue that a crankcase plug has started to loosen, and on the 450SX-F this can mean either of two separate plugs Accossato lists for the bike: the BEP01 here, covering 2007 to 2015, and the SEP01 nearby. Each closes its own opening in the casing, originally covered by a stock part that's since been removed.
Key Features
- Crankcase plug for the KTM 450SX-F, 2007 to 2015
- Accossato code BEP01, closes an opening in the engine casing
- Available in orange or blue
- Accossato also lists a second crankcase plug, SEP01, for this bike
- Same part also listed for the Husqvarna FC 250, FE 501 and KTM 350SX-F, among others
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
Standing in for the factory part, the BEP01 plugs an opening in the 450SX-F's crankcase, and Accossato extends the identical code to the Husqvarna FC 250, FE 501 and KTM 350SX-F, among the other models named below. Orange or blue changes nothing beyond the finish. Rounding on the edges from the wrong tool, or a plug that spins without resistance, points to one that's overdue for replacement.
Spotted During a Bigger Teardown
Nobody strips an engine down just to look at a crankcase plug, but once the casing is already open for something bigger, checking both the BEP01 and the SEP01 at the same time costs nothing extra. A plug missed during that kind of work can sit unnoticed for a long stretch afterwards, since nothing about the bike's handling changes until oil has actually started to show. Fitting fresh plugs whenever the engine is already apart is the easiest way to close that gap.
Fitment and Compatibility
2007 through 2015 is the window Accossato records for the 450SX-F under the BEP01. A garage running the Husqvarna FC 250 or FE 501 alongside this bike, or the KTM 350SX-F, will find the same plug listed for those too, since they belong to the same wider engine family. Confirming the exact build year against that list is still worth the extra minute before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the BEP01, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
Scope of Delivery
