DescriptionThe whole story▼
Four-stroke motocrossers carry more small engine covers than their two-stroke equivalents, and the 250SX-F is no exception, with Accossato listing a crankcase plug, an oil pump cover and more besides the usual reservoir covers. The BEP01 is one of two crankcase plugs for this bike, covering the 2011-to-2017 build and closing an opening in the engine casing.
Key Features
- Crankcase plug for the KTM 250SX-F, 2011 to 2017
- Accossato code BEP01, closes an opening in the engine casing
- Available in orange or blue
- Accossato also lists a second crankcase plug, SEP01, for this bike
- Same part also listed for the Husqvarna FC 350, FE 501 and KTM 350SX-F, among others
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
The BEP01 closes an opening in the 250SX-F's crankcase in place of the factory part; the same code is also listed for the Husqvarna FC 350, FE 501 and KTM 350SX-F, among others, as shown below. Orange or blue makes no difference to the seal, only to the finish once the engine's back together. A plug sitting proud rather than flush, or showing a weep of oil around its edge, has usually started to work loose.
A Plug on the Four-Stroke's Crankcase
Compared with the exposed valve and pump covers elsewhere on the engine, this plug sits in a less obvious spot, which means it often gets overlooked during a quick clean and only noticed properly during a full service. Checking both crankcase plugs together, rather than just the one that happens to be visible, avoids leaving the other for another day. A weep here is easy to miss until oil has already built up on the lower frame rail.
Fitment and Compatibility
The 250SX-F's 2011-to-2017 build is what Accossato names on the BEP01's own list. Garages running the Husqvarna FC 350 or FE 501 alongside a 250SX-F, or a KTM 350SX-F, will find the same plug listed for each of those too, since they share this engine family. The usual caution still applies: match the exact build year against the list rather than ordering on the model name alone.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the BEP01, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
Scope of Delivery
