DescriptionThe whole story▼
A crankcase plug rarely draws attention on the 250EXC-F until it's missing, cracked or clearly been forced at some point in the bike's history. Accossato's BEP01 is one of two crankcase plugs listed for this bike, covering the 2012-to-2017 build and closing an opening in the engine casing in place of whatever stock part was there before.
Key Features
- Crankcase plug for the KTM 250EXC-F, 2012 to 2017
- Accossato code BEP01, closes an opening in the engine casing
- Available in orange or blue
- Accossato also lists a second crankcase plug, SEP01, for this bike
- Same part also listed for the Husqvarna FC 350, FE 501 and KTM 450SX-F, among others
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's BEP01 closes an opening in the 250EXC-F's crankcase in place of the factory part; the same code is also listed for the Husqvarna FC 350, FE 501 and KTM 450SX-F, among others, as the fitment list below shows. Orange and blue make no difference to the seal, only to how the engine looks once it's back together. A plug that no longer sits flush, or shows rounding from the wrong tool having been used on it, is worth swapping before it loosens further.
A Plug Easy to Miss
Sitting low and unassuming on the crankcase, a plug like this rarely gets a second look during a normal service, which is exactly why it's worth including on the list when the bike is already stripped down for something else. A weep of oil around the edge is the usual first sign something's wrong, by which point it's already overdue for replacement. Fitting a fresh BEP01 during any wider engine work closes off that risk cheaply.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list puts the 250EXC-F's 2012-to-2017 build under the BEP01. The same plug also reaches the Husqvarna FC 350, the FE 501 and the KTM 450SX-F, part of the wider range sharing this engine family, so an owner with more than one of these bikes can keep a single spare. Matching the exact build year against that list is still worth the extra minute before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the BEP01, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
