Ein Kinnteil, das sich öffnet — und die P/J-Frage
🔵🔵 Ein Punkt, der über den Einsatz entscheidet: MT weist für den Atom 2 SV keine P/J-Kennzeichnung aus. P/J bescheinigt, dass ein Klapphelm in beiden Stellungen zugelassen ist — offen wie geschlossen.
🟢 Am Mechanismus selbst gibt es nichts auszusetzen: eine Ein-Tasten-Entriegelung, einhändig bedienbar.
Zum matten Schwarz
Matt streut das Licht, statt es zu spiegeln: Sie sehen die Silhouette, nicht die Rundung. Bei einem Klapphelm hat das einen gestalterischen Nebeneffekt, den viele schätzen — die Trennlinien zwischen Kinnteil und Schale treten zurück, weil kein Spitzlicht sie nachzeichnet. Der Helm wirkt dadurch geschlossener, als er konstruktiv ist. 🔵 Der Nachteil steckt in der Pflege, und er ist bei Matt deutlich größer als bei Glanz. Eine matte Oberfläche hat eine mikroskopisch raue Struktur, in der sich Insektenreste, Staub und Straßenfilm festsetzen; wegpolieren ist keine Option, weil Polieren die Struktur glättet und dann eine glänzende Stelle hinterlässt. Einweichen, sanft abnehmen, keine Politur, keine Wachse. 🔵 Bei einem Klapphelm kommt hinzu, dass sich in den Fugen um das Kinnteil besonders viel festsetzt — dort lohnt sich beim Reinigen die zusätzliche Minute. Zur Sichtbarkeit: Schwarz ist der Ton, den ein wartender Autofahrer bei bedecktem Himmel am spätesten erfasst.
HIRP, ECE 22.06 und DOT
🟢 1,7 Kilogramm sind für einen Klapphelm dieser Bauart ein normaler Wert. Die Bauform trägt konstruktionsbedingt 150 bis 250 Gramm mehr als ein fester Integralhelm — Scharnier, Verriegelung und die zweite Schalenhälfte wiegen.
Die Schale ist HIRP, zugelassen nach ECE 22.06 und DOT.
MT-ESP — eine Sonnenblende, die den Windabweiser trifft
🟢 Dass die Blende bis an den Windabweiser heranreicht, ist der eigentliche Punkt: Eine kurze Blende endet auf Augenbrauenhöhe und lässt unten genau dort Licht herein, wo bei tief stehender Sonne geblendet wird. Die MT-ESP deckt diesen Bereich mit ab.

MT-FSOS, MT-ESLS und die Pinlock-Scheibe im Karton
🟢🟢 Der wichtigste Ausstattungspunkt: Die Pinlock®-DKS512-Antibeschlagscheibe ist im Lieferumfang. Bei den meisten MT-Modellen muss man sie nachkaufen — hier nicht.
🟢 Als kompatible Alternative nennt MT die FogOff FOG013.
Der Doppelhaken-Verschluss
🟢 Doppelhaken ist beim MT-MDTC der technische Kern: Bei einer einfachen Ratsche trägt jeweils ein Zahn die gesamte Last, hier sind es zwei. Das ist eine Haltbarkeitsfrage und eine Sicherungsfrage.
Bedienen lässt sich der Verschluss einhändig, auch mit Handschuhen.
Ein Spoiler, der den Auslass verdeckt
🟢 Ein Spoiler, der zugleich Bauteil der Belüftung ist, spart eine sichtbare Öffnung: Von außen sieht man eine Abrisskante, funktional ist es ein Auslass. Beim Atom 2 SV ist das so gelöst.
🔵 Wie viel Luft dabei tatsächlich bewegt wird, hat niemand unabhängig gemessen.
Innenfutter, Passform und der Windabweiser
🟢 Der mitgelieferte Windabweiser ist bei einem Klapphelm mehr wert als bei einem Integralhelm: Die Kinnteilfuge und der untere Rand sind die beiden Wege, über die Wind hereinkommt, und er schließt einen davon.
Das Futter ist vollständig herausnehmbar und waschbar.
Interkom-Vorbereitung
🟢 Interkomtauglich heißt bei diesem Modell: Ein handelsübliches System lässt sich montieren. MT nennt kein bestimmtes Fabrikat und keine Einschränkung — Sie bleiben bei der Wahl frei.

Wo er im MT-Programm steht
🟢 Gegenüber dem festen Thunder 4 R SV ist der Atom 2 SV rund 200 Gramm schwerer und lässt sich dafür am Halt öffnen. Beide nutzen HIRP-Schalen; nur der Atom 2 SV trägt zusätzlich DOT.
🔵 Die Frage ist schlicht, ob Sie das Kinnteil tatsächlich nutzen werden.
Wenn etwas verschleißt
🔵 Der EPS-Kern arbeitet genau einmal. Nach jedem echten Aufprall gehört der Helm ersetzt, auch wenn außen nichts zu sehen ist — von außen sind Schaumschäden nicht erkennbar.
🟢 Bis dahin sind alle Verschleißteile einzeln nachkaufbar.

Take out the washable lining and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Clean the shell and visor with a soft cloth and water only — never solvents.
