DescriptionThe whole story▼
The same Streetrush script design as its green sibling, run here in a vivid chrome-effect blue against black rather than green — the identical layout, a different colour family entirely rather than a subtle shade shift.
Shared engineering, own helmet
The VZ400 visor fitted here is not unique to the D-Skwal 3 — it also equips the Skwal i3, Skwal i Cup, Skwal Cup and Ridill 2 — but the specification is still worth stating plainly: Optical class 1, vortex generator, 3 mm to 2.2 mm variable thickness, Pinlock 70 pre-fitted with adjustable tension, anti-scratch coating, tool-free central lock.
Sustained load, not showroom weight
A helmet weighed on a shop counter and a helmet worn for a four-hour ride are two different experiences of the same number. Shark's published 1,540 g applies to the D-Skwal 3's smaller shell size, with larger sizes on the bigger shell running somewhat higher, and it falls within the roughly 1,250-1,800 g spread seen across road-legal full-face helmets generally.
The gaps, named
No MIPS, no EQRS, no tear-off posts, no IRID photochromic visor option (that stays with the AERON GP, AERON and RACE R PRO). ECE 22.06 only, no FIM. And a note on SHARP: its 'Shark D-Skwal' entry is the 2018 predecessor tested under ECE 22.05, not this generation — the D-Skwal 3 has no SHARP rating.
Sized for the whole range, not just the middle
Two shell sizes carry the D-Skwal 3's six sizes, XS through XXL, which keeps XS riders from swimming in an XXL-scaled shell and XXL riders from feeling compressed. A washable, removable liner and glasses-friendly cheek pads finish the everyday fit.
Communication and sun, both covered
Sharktooth and SENA intercom units fit this shell without modification, and an internal drop-down sun visor deals with low sun on the move. The outer visor keeps a quick, tool-free release for routine cleaning — the kind of everyday detail that matters more after a hundred rides than on the first one.
The Streetrush blue finish, in use
Like its green sibling, this decor's gloss shell is what lets the chrome-effect blue graphic shift tone with the light rather than sitting flat. The blue reads considerably more saturated and electric than a standard navy paint job, consistent with a colour-shifting finish rather than a plain solid.
This blue Streetrush also runs EUR 269.99, matching its green sibling. Whichever tone is chosen, the shell, closure, visor and ECE 22.06 approval described earlier carry across unaffected.
Where this decor lands on Shark's price list
Four points on Shark's current road-helmet price ladder put this decor's cost in context:
The list price for this exact decor is EUR 269.99.
| Helmet | Starting from |
| Skwal Cup | from EUR 269.99 |
| D-Skwal 3 | from EUR 219.99 |
| Ridill 2 | from EUR 189.99 |
| Skwal i3 | from EUR 319.99 |
These four figures come from Shark's current 2027 road range. Only price is compared; no assumption is made here about the other three helmets' own specification.
What changed between 22.05 and 22.06
Four things, mainly: impact points went from five to eighteen; test speeds multiplied instead of using one fixed value; an oblique-impact test against an abrasive anvil was added, loading the shell with twisting and grazing force rather than a vertical drop; and a Brain Injury Criterion now scores rotational energy specifically. This helmet is certified to 22.06, mandatory in the EU for new homologations since January 2024, tested with visor, Pinlock and comms fitted, and carries no FIM suffix.
A closer look at Streetrush, in blue
Identical script layout to its green sibling — the same loose, hand-drawn lettering, the same starburst and scribble details around the crown and browline — run instead in a vivid, chrome-effect blue. Because the underlying artwork is shared between the two colourways, choosing between them really is a colour decision rather than a style decision: the green leans toward a cooler, more unusual palette, while this blue reads as a more conventional, high-contrast choice that still keeps the colour-shifting chrome finish neither a flat paint job would offer. Either way, the street-art-influenced design keeps this decor closer to expressive than race-inspired.
As with its green sibling, this blue chrome-effect coating benefits from gentle cleaning rather than an abrasive sponge, which can dull the colour-shift over time. Sizing and shell construction are identical to every other D-Skwal 3 decor in this batch.
Blue chrome effects like this one tend to photograph more consistently than the green variant, since blue tones generally hold up better under artificial lighting than green-shifted coatings do. For a rider deciding between the two Streetrush colours, that consistency may be a small practical factor alongside straightforward colour preference.
What happens when the visor scratches
It gets replaced, not the helmet: Shark's spare-parts range includes a visor collection that names the D-Skwal 3 specifically, shared with the Skwal Cup, Ridill 2 and Skwal i3.
Earplugs recommended, based on a real test
An independent long-term reviewer's verdict on this helmet's wind noise was blunt: pretty loud without earplugs, with a whistle developing above about 25 mph whenever the visor was opened for airflow. No dB figure is claimed here — that qualitative, road-tested account is what is available.
What holds it together
The micrometric buckle under the chin is the same family of closure used on cycling helmets and modern sport helmets generally: a ratchet strap that adjusts in small increments and releases with a squeeze, rather than a webbing loop that has to be re-threaded every time riding gear changes.
The everyday case for aerodynamics
Aero engineering usually gets sold as a racetrack feature, but a stable helmet matters just as much on a motorway slip road in a crosswind, or on a naked bike where the rider's head sits fully exposed to the airflow. The D-Skwal 3 puts that same CFD-and-wind-tunnel process to work on a helmet built for exactly those ordinary situations, not a start grid.
Four vents, all glove-operable
Two intakes sit low on the chin, two exhausts sit up on the crown, and none of the four require removing a glove to adjust — a detail independently confirmed by a long-term reviewer. The same review rated airflow adequate in normal riding conditions, with a hot-weather test showing its limits without extra help from the visor.
Decor HE0914KBU's six sizes, XS through XXL, follow the same size chart as the rest of the D-Skwal 3 range, so a rider's usual Shark size carries over directly. Decor HE0914KBU ships from the same Portuguese production line as the rest of the D-Skwal 3 range, with no separate sourcing for this particular graphic. Decor HE0914KBU carries the same HS commodity code and shipping weight classification as the rest of the D-Skwal 3 range for customs purposes. At EUR 269.99, decor HE0914KBU sits inside the D-Skwal 3 line's own EUR 219.99 to EUR 309.99 span described in the price-ladder section above. The removable, washable liner fitted to decor HE0914KBU is the same part used across the rest of the D-Skwal 3 range, not a decor-specific variant.
