Matteo Bertelle ist ein italienischer Rennfahrer, der 2017 den CIV-Pre-Moto3-Titel gewann, im European Talent Cup und im Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup fuhr und 2022 ein Moto3-WM-Cockpit bei Avintia Esponsorama erhielt, bevor eine Kreuzbandverletzung seine Saison vorzeitig beendete. Dieses Dekor trägt seine Farben — Schwarz, Rot und Gelb — auf der eigenen Schale des Skwal Cup statt auf einem reinen Streckendesign.
Wo die meisten Wettbewerber aufhören
Viele Helme dieser Preisklasse sind glatt und rund geformt, ohne jeden Versuch, das zu steuern, was mit der Luft passiert, sobald sie am Kopf des Fahrers vorbei ist. Der Skwal Cup geht einen anderen Weg: ein Heckspoiler, entwickelt per numerischer Strömungssimulation und im Windkanal bestätigt, gebaut, um diese Strömung zu kontrollieren statt sie zu ignorieren — ein Stück Technik, das von Sharks Wettbewerbshelmen übernommen wurde, nicht eine Form von einem Moodboard.
Fünf Punkte, dann achtzehn
Die Zahl, die am besten zeigt, um wie viel härter ECE 22.06 gegenüber seinem Vorgänger prüft: Die Aufpralltests wuchsen von fünf Punkten auf der Schale auf achtzehn. Der Skwal Cup ist nach dieser neueren, seit Januar 2024 in der EU verpflichtenden Norm zertifiziert, die zusätzlich bei mehreren Aufprallgeschwindigkeiten statt einer prüft, einen Schrägaufprall-Test gegen einen rauen Amboss zur Simulation eines streifenden Sturzes ergänzt, Rotationskräfte über ein Brain Injury Criterion bewertet und Visier, Pinlock-Einsatz und Kommunikationseinheit vor dem Aufprall montiert, statt eine nackte Schale zu prüfen. Kein FIM-Zusatz erscheint auf der Zulassung dieses Helms — ausschließlich Straßenhomologation.
S/M gegen L/XXL
Die angegebenen 1.580 g (+/-50 g) des Skwal Cup gehören zur kleineren Schale, die die Größen S und M abdeckt. Die Größen L bis XXL sind auf der größeren der beiden Schalen aufgebaut und wiegen für dieselbe Konstruktion üblicherweise etwas mehr — ein Detail, das zählt, weil es über die gesamte Fahrtdauer vollständig vom Nacken getragen wird, nicht nur beim ersten Aufsetzen spürbar ist. Innerhalb unseres eigenen Sortiments an straßenzugelassenen Integralhelmen wiegen die meisten zwischen etwa 1.250 g und 1.800 g, womit der Skwal Cup eher im mittleren Drittel liegt als an einem der Enden.
Eine bewusst minimale Anzahl an Lüftungsöffnungen
Statt mehrere Lüftungsöffnungen über die Schale zu verteilen, nutzt der Skwal Cup einen Einlass und zwei hintere Auslässe und hält damit die Fläche frei, die der Spoiler für seine Arbeit braucht.
Das Bertelle-Dekor im Einsatz
Schwarz, Rot und Gelb in dieser Kombination wirken wie eine echte Rennlackierung statt einer generischen Sportgrafik, und genau das ist der Sinn eines Replica-Dekors: Es trägt die Farben eines bestimmten Fahrers statt eines erfundenen Musters. Auf der Straße sorgt der Kontrast für Sichtbarkeit, ohne auf Warnfarben-Panels angewiesen zu sein, und die Lackierung zeigt ihre Gebrauchsspuren wie jeder Straßenhelm nach einer Saison echten Einsatzes.

Statt einer einzigen, mit Polsterung für jede Größe angepassten Schale nutzt der Skwal Cup zwei über seine Reihe von XS bis XXL und hält die Passform an beiden Enden proportional.

339,99 € platzieren dieses Dekor über dem Einstiegspreis des Ridill 2 von 189,99 € und des D-Skwal 3 von 219,99 €, und etwa auf Höhe der Spanne des Skwal i3 von 319,99 – 399,99 € und des Startpreises des Skwal i Cup von 329,99 €. Der Abstand zu den letzten beiden ist fast vollständig das dort montierte LED-Bremslicht-System, das hier fehlt.
Gebaut zum Behalten, nicht zum Ersetzen
Shark unterstützt den Skwal Cup mit eigenen Ersatzvisieren, gelistet neben Ridill 2, D-Skwal 3 und Skwal i3 — genau die Art laufender Teileversorgung, die es erlaubt, einen Helm über Jahre zu behalten, statt ihn wegen eines verschlissenen Visiers neu zu kaufen.

Der Skwal Cup trägt kein LED-Bremslicht — dieses Merkmal sitzt am Skwal i3 und am Skwal i Cup. Es existiert keine SHARP-Sternebewertung für dieses Modell, da SHARPs Tests Skwal, Skwal 2 und D-Skwal abdecken, nicht den Cup. Die Zulassung ist ausschließlich ECE 22.06, ohne FIM-Wettbewerbszusatz. Es gibt kein MIPS-Futter, kein elektronisches Schnellentriegelungssystem, und das Visier hat keine Tear-off-Stifte.
