Was ein offener Helm leistet — und was nicht
🔵 Kein Kinnschutz — und dazu keine Sicherheitsbewertung: SHARP prüft offene Jethelme nicht im Labor, ADAC und Snell führen den Street S ebenso wenig, und ein veröffentlichter Fahrtest existiert nicht.
Die Zulassung nach ECE 22.06 ist der einzige Prüfnachweis — und sie ist eine Mindestanforderung, keine Bewertung.
Zum schwarzen Glanzfinish
Der Unterschied zwischen den beiden schwarzen Fassungen liegt nicht in der Farbe, sondern in der Oberfläche — und der ändert das Erscheinungsbild deutlich. Glanzschwarz wirft entlang jeder Rundung ein hartes Spitzlicht zurück, und dieses Spitzlicht zeichnet die Form nach: die Wölbung der Schale, die Kante über dem Sichtfeld, den Übergang zum langen Visier. Bei einem Jethelm, dessen Reiz in einer einfachen, ungeteilten Form liegt, ist das die Fassung, die diese Form am deutlichsten zeigt. 🟢 Praktisch ist Glanz die pflegeleichtere der beiden Oberflächen — und bei einem Helm mit festem Innenfutter, den man außen häufiger reinigt als innen, ist das ein echtes Argument: Insektenreste lösen sich nach dem Einweichen leicht. 🔵 Der Preis ist die Kratzempfindlichkeit; dunkler Klarlack zeigt jeden Kreiskratzer. Und zur Sichtbarkeit gilt bei beiden schwarzen Fassungen dasselbe: Schwarz ist bei bedecktem Himmel der Ton, den ein wartender Autofahrer am spätesten erfasst.
Der günstigste Helm im MT-Programm — und was das heißt
🟢 Ein Einstiegshelm ist kein schlechter Helm — er ist ein Helm ohne Zusatzausstattung. Der Street S trägt dieselbe Zulassung wie teurere Modelle (ECE 22.06 und DOT) und verzichtet dafür auf Sonnenblende, herausnehmbares Futter und Interkom-Vorbereitung.
🔵 Ob dieser Verzicht für Sie tragbar ist, ist die eigentliche Kaufentscheidung.
Was dieser Helm nicht hat
🔵🔵 Drei Lücken, die man vor dem Kauf kennen muss: keine Sonnenblende, kein herausnehmbares Futter, keine Interkom-Vorbereitung. MT nennt keines der drei Merkmale für dieses Modell.
🔵🔵 Besonders die zweite Lücke überrascht, weil der ältere „MT Street“ nach ECE 22.05 ein herausnehmbares Futter hatte. Dies ist ein anderer Helm.
HIRP, 1025 Gramm, ECE 22.06 und DOT
🟢 Rund ein Kilogramm — mehr muss man zum Gewicht kaum sagen. Zum Vergleich: Ein Integralhelm liegt bei 1400 bis 1600 Gramm, ein Klapphelm bei 1700 bis 1900. Der Street S ist der leichteste Helm, den MT baut.
🔵 Die Handelsangaben schwanken zwischen 950 und 1050 g; MT selbst nennt etwa 1025.
Das lange MT-V-15B-Visier
🟢 Ein langes Visier ist bei einem offenen Helm die sinnvollere Bauform: Es schützt nicht nur die Augen, sondern einen Großteil des Gesichts gegen Wind, Regen und Insekten. Beim Street S ist es das MT-V-15B.
🔵 Es ersetzt keinen Kinnschutz — es ist Wetterschutz.
Der MT-Micrometric+-Verschluss
🟢 Eine mikrometrische Ratsche lässt sich mit Handschuhen bedienen und behält die eingestellte Länge, wenn man sie öffnet. Das ist der Unterschied zum Doppel-D-Ring, bei dem jedes Mal neu gezogen wird.
Beim Street S kommt der MT-Micrometric+ zum Einsatz.
Einen Helm mit festem Futter reinigen
🔵🔵 Der wichtigste Pflegehinweis bei diesem Helm: keine Lösungsmittel, kein Benzin, kein Alkohol. Eine Thermoplastschale reagiert darauf mit Versprödung — sichtbar wird das erst, wenn es zu spät ist.
🔵 Das feste Futter wird mit feuchtem Tuch und milder Seife gereinigt, dann an der Luft getrocknet.
Die richtige Größe finden
🔵🔵 Ein Punkt, der bei diesem Modell besonders zählt: Weil sich das Futter nicht herausnehmen und nicht durch dünnere Polster ersetzen lässt, gibt es keine Möglichkeit, die Passform nachträglich anzupassen. Die Größe muss beim Kauf stimmen.
🟢 Zur Auswahl stehen sechs Größen, XS bis XXL.
Wo er im MT-Programm steht
🟢 Für wen dieser Helm gedacht ist: gelegentliche Fahrer, Zweitfahrer, Rollerfahrer auf kurzen Strecken. Bei rund 1025 Gramm und dieser Preisklasse ist er der pragmatischste Helm im Programm.
🔵 Für Vielfahrer ist das feste Futter das entscheidende Gegenargument.
Wenn etwas verschleißt
🔵 Der EPS-Kern arbeitet genau einmal. Nach jedem echten Aufprall gehört der Helm ersetzt, auch wenn außen nichts zu sehen ist — von außen sind Schaumschäden nicht erkennbar.
🟢 Als Ersatzteil führt MT im Wesentlichen das MT-V-15B-Visier.
