Ein Motocross-Helm — Brille statt Visier
🟢 Die Brillenöffnung ist weit geschnitten und für Geländebrillen ausgelegt — das ist der konstruktive Unterschied zu einem Straßenhelm, dessen Öffnung auf ein Visier abgestimmt ist.
🔵 Eine Brille gehört nicht zum Lieferumfang. Ohne sie fehlt dem Helm der gesamte Augenschutz.
Zum Neongelb auf Grau
Fluoreszierendes Gelbgrün ist die einzige Farbe auf diesem Helm, die physikalisch mehr tut als reflektieren: Der Farbstoff wandelt unsichtbares UV-Licht in sichtbares um und gibt dadurch mehr sichtbares Licht ab, als auf ihn fällt. Der Effekt ist genau dann am größten, wenn er gebraucht wird — bei bedecktem Himmel, in der Dämmerung, unter Regenwolken. Bei einem Geländehelm kommt ein zweiter Nutzen dazu, der oft übersehen wird: Auf einer Piste ist ein neongelber Helm über große Entfernung auszumachen, und das zählt, wenn jemand zurückfällt oder stürzt. 🔵 Zwei Einschränkungen. Fluoreszenz wirkt nur bei Tageslicht; in völliger Dunkelheit ist Neongelb eine normale helle Farbe. Und der Farbstoff bleicht schneller aus als jedes normale Pigment — ein Helm, der zwischen den Fahrten in der Sonne liegt, verliert genau die Eigenschaft, für die man ihn gewählt hat. Im Schatten aufbewahren ist hier Werterhalt. Zur Pflege der matten Fläche: einweichen, sanft abnehmen, nicht polieren. Zur Praxis noch ein Punkt: Der Falcon S wird ohne Brille geliefert. Wer den Sichtbarkeitsvorteil des Neongelb erhalten will, sollte auch beim Brillenband darauf achten — ein helles Band setzt die Wirkung fort, ein schwarzes unterbricht sie an der auffälligsten Stelle. Und weil Neongelb der Ton ist, der am schnellsten nachlässt, gilt hier besonders: nach der Fahrt in den Schatten, nicht ins Fenster.
ECE 22.06 — und das DOT, das der ältere Falcon hatte
🔵 Wir nennen es, weil es beim Vergleich mit älteren Angeboten auffällt: Der Vorgänger „Falcon“ war nach ECE 22.05 zugelassen und trug ein DOT-Zeichen. Der Falcon S trägt ECE 22.06 und kein DOT.
🟢 Ältere Testberichte und Datenblätter beschreiben deshalb nicht diesen Helm.
HIRP und 1350 Gramm
🟢 Gewicht ist bei einem MX-Helm wichtiger als bei einem Straßenhelm, weil im Gelände ständig der Kopf bewegt wird — jede Linienkorrektur beschleunigt und bremst die Masse. 1350 Gramm sind hier ein brauchbarer Wert.
Die Schale ist HIRP-Thermoplast, der Kern EPS.
Der verstellbare Schirm
Ein Schirm ist bei einem MX-Helm mehr als Blendschutz: Er fängt Steine und Spritzer des Vordermanns ab. 🟢 Beim Falcon S ist er verstellbar und als Sollbruchstelle ausgelegt.
Ersatzschirme sind einzeln erhältlich — bei einem Bauteil, das bewusst nachgibt, ist das die passende Ergänzung.
Einlässe, Auslässe und warum ein MX-Helm kühl bleibt
🟢 Mehrere Fronteinlässe, Auslässe im Heck und eine weite Brillenöffnung: Das Belüftungskonzept eines MX-Helms braucht keine Klappen, weil es auf maximalen Durchsatz ausgelegt ist.
🔵 Genau deshalb ist er auf der Straße zugig — dort hilft nur, ihn nicht dafür zu benutzen.
Der Doppel-D-Ring
🟢 Ein Verschluss ohne Mechanik altert nicht: Beim Doppel-D-Ring gibt es keine Feder, die ermüdet, und keine Verzahnung, die sich abnutzt. Nach fünf Jahren Geländeeinsatz funktioniert er wie am ersten Tag.
Er ist stufenlos verstellbar und zieht sich unter Zug selbst fester.
Was dieser Helm nicht hat
🔵 Die vollständige Liste dessen, was fehlt: Visier, Sonnenblende, Interkom-Vorbereitung — und die Brille selbst, die nicht im Lieferumfang ist.
🟢 Nichts davon ist ein Mangel dieses Modells; alles davon folgt daraus, dass es ein Motocross-Helm ist.
Die richtige Größe finden
🟢 Beim Anprobieren eines MX-Helms zusätzlich prüfen: ob die Brille in die Öffnung passt, ohne zu drücken. Öffnung und Brillenrahmen müssen zueinander passen — das merkt man erst mit beidem am Kopf.
Der Größenbereich reicht von XS bis XL, also fünf Größen.
Wo er im MT-Programm steht
🔵 Ein Motocross-Helm ist ein Spezialwerkzeug, kein Allrounder. Der Falcon S kann Gelände sehr gut und Straße schlecht — und das ist keine Kritik, sondern die Beschreibung seiner Bauart.
🟢 Innerhalb des MT-Programms ist er das Modell für den reinen Geländeeinsatz.
Wenn etwas verschleißt
🟢 Ein Helm ist so lange gut, wie man ihn instand halten kann. MT fertigt in Spanien und führt für den Falcon S Schirm und Innenpolsterung als Einzelteile.
🔵 Nach jedem Aufprall und spätestens nach fünf Jahren gehört der ganze Helm ersetzt.
