DescriptionThe whole story▼
Storm Grey brings a new, quieter shade to the Sidi Taurus GTX, the tall adventure-touring boot that pairs a GORE-TEX membrane with two NUUN 001M dials and a Materiis rubber sole. It is made for riders whose trips mix long motorway stages with gravel roads and tougher off-road passages, and who want one pair of boots that handles both without changing.
Sidi traces the Taurus back to its motocross heritage, but sets it up as an allroad boot: light enough to walk in at a fuel stop, supportive enough to stand on the pegs for hours.
Key Features
- GORE-TEX membrane in the lining, waterproof and breathable
- Two NUUN 001M rotors that Sidi says can be adjusted with one hand while riding
- 3-point flexible ankle brace combining impact stability with natural movement
- Soft microfibre upper reinforced with high-density TPU
- Elasticated tibia panel and wide entry for different calf sizes
- Materiis high-grip rubber sole for traction on mixed surfaces
- Replaceable components for long-term servicing
- CE certified to EN 13634:2017, EU sizes 39 to 50, made in Italy
Rain, Spray and River Crossings
The waterproofing of the Taurus GTX comes from a GORE-TEX membrane built into the lining, which accounts for 10% of the material composition in the 2027 list. It keeps water out while letting moisture from the foot escape, so a wet morning on the pass does not have to end with soaked socks. Like every membrane boot, it can only protect up to the top of the shaft: water that runs in from above, under the trousers or through a deep crossing, will stay inside.
Ankle Brace and Impact Zones
Instead of a rigid hinge, the Taurus uses a flexible ankle brace that works at three points. Sidi's aim is to stabilise the joint against impacts and twisting while still allowing the natural movement you need for shifting, braking and standing up. Reinforced zones made of TPU, which accounts for about 20% of the material, protect the areas most exposed to stones and falls. The boot is CE certified to EN 13634:2017; the list names no individual performance levels, so none are given here.
Closing with Two Dials
Two NUUN 001M rotors, one over the instep and one at the ankle, pull the boot closed. Each dial adjusts its own section, so you can set the forefoot a little looser and the ankle firmer, or the other way round. Sidi describes the system as aerodynamic and quick, and states that it can be readjusted mid-ride with just one hand, which is handy when your feet swell slightly during a long day. There are no buckles that can catch on branches or rocks.
Fit Across a Wide Size Run
The Taurus GTX is offered as a unisex boot in EU sizes 39 to 50, which is a broad range for a boot of this type. Its tapered shape is meant to keep the foot close to the bike for precise control. At the top, an elasticated tibia panel together with a wide entry adapts to slim and strong calves alike and makes it easier to step in and out. If you plan to wear thick hiking socks, try the boot on with them before your first trip.
Materials and Servicing
The upper is a soft microfibre PU, a synthetic material that Sidi pairs with high-density TPU for support at low weight. Nylon and plastic parts form the rotor system and structural elements, and polyester appears in textile details and padding. One point matters for long-term owners: according to Sidi, every component of the Taurus is replaceable, so worn parts can be renewed rather than retiring the whole boot.
What You Should Know
The Taurus GTX is an adventure-touring and allroad boot, not a dedicated motocross race boot; Sidi lists it under allroad boots. Its upper is microfibre, not leather. The membrane keeps water out only up to the height of the shaft. Which spare parts are actually available, and how they are ordered, is not listed by Sidi; please ask us before relying on a specific part.
Colour
Storm Grey is a medium, slightly cool grey with a matte, suede-like surface finish on the microfibre panels. It is contrasted by a black shin plate, black sections around the toe and heel, and a black sole. The Sidi lettering on the shin and on the side is set in a bronze tone, and the two dials carry small orange accents. On the road the colour looks calm and technical rather than military or rugged, and it is far more forgiving with dust and dried mud than a black boot, while still looking tidy at a hotel in the evening. If maximum conspicuity is your priority, a lighter version such as Sand/Black stands out more.
