DescriptionThe whole story▼
Light sand panels, a black shin guard and a pale sole give this version of the Sidi Taurus GTX the look of desert rally gear. Underneath the colour sits the same adventure-touring concept: a waterproof GORE-TEX lining, a pair of NUUN 001M rotors instead of buckles, and a grippy Materiis outsole designed for both tarmac and loose ground.
If your bike is set up for long trips with luggage and you regularly leave the asphalt behind, this is the kind of boot the Taurus was conceived for.
Key Features
- Dual NUUN 001M dial closure, adjustable one-handed on the move according to Sidi
- Waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX lining
- Three-point flexible ankle brace for support without stiffness
- Supple microfibre combined with high-density TPU reinforcements
- Stretch panel over the tibia with a wide opening for easy entry
- Materiis rubber outsole for grip, durability and comfort
- Fully serviceable construction with replaceable components
- CE certified to EN 13634:2017, sizes EU 39–50, produced in Italy
Where the Taurus Belongs
Sidi classifies the Taurus GTX as an allroad boot and describes its job as covering long distances as well as demanding terrain. In practice that means a day that starts on the motorway, continues on mountain passes and ends on a forest track. The tapered shape keeps the boot slim at the controls, so shifting and braking remain precise, while the shaft is tall enough to protect the shin and lower leg when you stand up on the footpegs.
Two Rotors, Individual Pressure
Each of the two NUUN 001M dials tensions its own area of the boot, the lower one across the forefoot and the upper one around the ankle. That allows you to set different pressure for each zone. Sidi points out that the rotors can be turned with one hand during the ride, so you can loosen them a click on a long motorway leg and close them more firmly before a rough section, without stopping to fiddle with straps.
What It Is Made Of
The 2027 list breaks the material down as follows: 40% microfibre PU for the soft synthetic upper, 20% TPU for the ankle brace and reinforcement panels, 15% rubber for the Materiis outsole, 10% nylon and plastic for the rotor system and structural parts, 10% GORE-TEX membrane in the lining and 5% polyester for textile details and padding. According to Sidi, this blend keeps the boot light while still giving it support and strength.
Protection and the Ankle Brace
At the core of the protection is the three-point ankle brace. It is flexible by design, so the joint is guided and stabilised during impacts while the foot can still roll naturally when you walk or move on the pegs. Reinforced impact zones complete the package. The boot carries CE certification to EN 13634:2017; because Sidi's documentation does not list the individual performance levels, we leave them out.
Wet Weather
Thanks to the GORE-TEX lining, the Taurus GTX is waterproof and breathable, so a sudden downpour, wet grass or a shallow ford do not have to mean wet feet. Keep in mind that the membrane protects only up to the upper edge of the boot. For heavy rain, wear your trousers over the shaft so water cannot run in from the top.
Getting the Right Size
Sizes run from EU 39 to 50, and the boot is listed as unisex. The elasticated panel over the tibia, combined with the wide entry, accommodates different calf sizes. Sidi gives no specific advice on whether the Taurus fits small or large, so trying it on with your usual riding socks is the safest route.
Built to Be Repaired
Sidi states that every component of the Taurus can be replaced. For a boot that will see dust, mud and many kilometres, this means that worn sections can be renewed and the boot can stay in use long after a non-serviceable boot would have been retired.
What You Should Know
The upper is synthetic microfibre, not leather, and the boot is built for adventure touring rather than motocross racing. In Sidi's 2027 list this colour has its own article number, 52476, but it is named Taurus GTX like the other versions, and the list gives it the same materials and features. Only one product photo is currently available for this colour. Which individual spare parts can be ordered is not specified; please contact us if you need a particular part.
Colour
Sand/Black combines a warm, light sand tone with a matte, suede-like finish on the microfibre and black elements on the shin plate, the mesh inserts and around the sole edge. The outsole is an off-white cream, the dials have small yellow accents, and a red detail sits at the heel. The overall effect is bright and outdoorsy, and the light colour stands out in traffic better than black or grey. The trade-off is that sand shows mud, oil and road grime quickly, so it needs a brush and a damp cloth more often than the darker versions.
