The Shoei Hornet ADV 06 is built on three outer shell sizes (XS–M | L | XL–XXL) for a balanced helmet-to-rider proportion across the full size range.

How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

The Shoei Hornet ADV 06 is built for the kind of trip that starts on tarmac and ends on gravel. Its peak is shaped into the aerodynamics rather than bolted on, so it shades your eyes and deflects stones without trying to lift your head at speed. Well balanced and comparatively light, it stays civil on a long motorway day and still makes sense on a dusty track. Finished in white / gloss.
Key Features
- Homologated to ECE 22.06 — the "06" in the name is the standard, not a styling code
- AIM+ shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus): a six-layer composite of fibreglass, organic and high-performance fibres over a multi-density EPS liner
- Vented peak integrated into the aerodynamics — glare, dirt and stone protection with minimal lift at speed
- CNS-2 visor with a wide field of view, tool-free quick change and over 99% UV block — PINLOCK EVO lens included
- EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System) for controlled helmet removal after a crash
- Double-D ring retention
- Four outer shell sizes (XS–S | M | L | XL–XXL) so the helmet stays in proportion
- Adjustable intakes at forehead, crown and chin, with outlets at the rear and neck; removable ear pads
- Recesses in the ear area prepared for a communication system
- Head, cheek and chin strap pads fully removable, washable and available in several thicknesses
Shell Construction and Safety
AIM+ is the higher grade of Shoei's shell technology — the same family used on the X-SPR PRO racing helmet. Six layers of fibreglass, organic and high-performance fibres are combined into a shell that is stiff without being heavy, and beneath it sits a polystyrene core assembled from elements of differing absorption characteristics so impact energy spreads through the structure. In an emergency the cheek pads can be pulled out through the EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System), so first responders can take the helmet off with minimal movement of the head and neck.
On Road and Off
An adventure helmet is a compromise by design, and it is worth knowing which way this one leans. The peak and the wide aperture are what make it work off tarmac — and they are also what you notice at motorway speed, where any peaked helmet catches more air and makes more noise than a smooth touring shell. Shoei has worked hard on that with the vented, aerodynamically shaped peak and an integrated spoiler, but physics still applies.
If you spend nearly all your time on tarmac at pace, a road helmet will be quieter. If your riding genuinely mixes surfaces — long transfers and then a gravel pass — this is the tool built for exactly that.
Visor System
The CNS-2 visor gives a wide field of view and changes tool-free thanks to the quick-change mechanism. Like every current Shoei full-face visor it blocks over 99% of incoming UV. A PINLOCK EVO DKS302 anti-fog lens is included with the helmet and already prepared for — not an extra you discover you need on the first cold morning.
Tinted, mirrored and photochromic CNS-2 visors are available separately. Please observe the homologation rules: only the clear CNS-2 is ECE 22.06 approved; the tinted and mirrored versions are daylight-only and not road legal in Germany and most of Europe.
Ventilation and Aerodynamics
Adjustable intakes at the forehead, crown and chin feed air through the helmet and outlets at the rear and neck move it out, cutting interior temperature and humidity — on a highway and on a dusty piste alike. An integrated spoiler improves aerodynamic behaviour, and the perforated peak is designed to work with the airflow rather than against it, which is what keeps lift manageable at speed.
Fit and Interior
The head pad is strongly contoured in the interest of airflow rather than bulk, and the three-dimensionally preformed cheek pads come out completely for washing. Removable ear pads reduce wind noise noticeably. Pads are available in different thicknesses (31/35/39/43 mm cheek pads), so a helmet that is nearly right can be made right.
Size Guide
Shoei builds this helmet in four outer shell sizes (XS–S | M | L | XL–XXL), which matters more than it sounds: a helmet scaled from a single shell across the whole range ends up oversized on small heads and thin-walled on large ones. It keeps the helmet compact — which matters on an adventure helmet, where a peak already adds visual bulk.
Measure the circumference of your head about a centimetre above the eyebrows, at the widest point, and compare it with the size chart linked on this page. If you fall between two sizes, take the smaller one and fine-tune with thinner cheek pads — a helmet that can be rotated on the head by hand is too big, whatever the tape says. The interior beds in slightly during the first few hours of use, so a new helmet should feel firm but never painful.
Fitment and Compatibility
Visors: CNS-2 in clear, dark tint, Spectra Silver and photochromic FI-TEC. Anti-fog: PINLOCK EVO DKS302 (one included). Communication: the ear recesses accept a system, though this helmet has no dedicated Shoei interface like COMLINK. Padding: cheek pads in four thicknesses plus head pads in several sizes.
What's in the Box
Helmet with a Pinlock EVO lens for the fitted CNS-2 visor, matching spare pins, a breath guard, a chin curtain, Shoei logo stickers, a Shoei helmet bag and silicone oil for the visor seal and mechanism.
Accessories Available at Inter-Pace
We stock the genuine Shoei parts for this helmet: CNS-2 visors in four versions, spare DKS302 Pinlock lenses, and replacement interior padding. Cheek and centre pads are available in several thicknesses, so the fit can be adjusted rather than accepted — worth knowing if the helmet is nearly right but presses in one spot.
