Head-Up Display Ready — the SHOEI COMLINK Interface

This is what separates the SMART from every other touring helmet on the market. Recesses in the ear area and pre-routed cable channels allow the EYELIGHTS head-up display and intercom system to be installed into the SHOEI COMLINK interface quickly and cleanly — no improvised mounts, no cables trapped against the liner.

Once paired with a smartphone running the EYELIGHTS app, the system projects speed, GPS navigation, incoming calls and current music playback onto a freely selectable spot on the integrated sun visor. Bright Nano OLED technology keeps the image readable in Full HD quality even in direct sunlight. In poor light or after dark, the projection can be aimed at the lower edge of a partially deployed sun visor. The integrated premium intercom module adds noise-cancelling microphone input, Siri and Google voice assistant support, and an online and offline mesh mode with up to ten hours of use.

Please note: the EYELIGHTS head-up display and intercom system is available separately as a Shoei accessory and is not part of the standard delivery. The GT-Air3 SMART ships fully prepared for it — the projection-coated QSV sun visor and the COMLINK interface are built into the helmet. The COMLINK interface also accepts the SENA SRL3 intercom from Shoei's accessory range, likewise sold separately.

Shell Construction and Safety

The high-performance outer shell is made from AIM — Advanced Integrated Matrix — a composite of fibreglass and organic fibres that combines high flexibility with low weight. Underneath sits a polystyrene core assembled from multiple elements of differing absorption characteristics, so impact energy is managed across the whole structure rather than at a single point. This construction earned the GT-Air3 the full five-star rating in SHARP testing, the independent helmet safety programme run by the UK Department for Transport. The slim, comfortable chin strap uses a micro-ratchet buckle that is easy to operate with gloves and holds the helmet securely in position. In an emergency, the cheek pads can be removed via the EQRS system so the helmet can be taken off without unnecessary movement of the head and neck.

QSV Sun Visor and CNS-1C Visor System

The QSV sun visor was developed specifically for the GT-Air3 SMART. Its special coating allows riding information to be projected onto the inside of the shield, and its dark tint delivers optimal vision across a wide range of conditions. An easily reachable slider deploys it steplessly, covering almost the entire field of view, and it can be removed tool-free for cleaning.

The clear CNS-1C visor fitted as standard offers high optical quality and a large usable field of view, giving distortion-free perception of traffic even at the edges of vision. Like all Shoei full-face visors it blocks more than 99% of incoming UV radiation. The proven quick-change mechanism allows tool-free visor swaps, and the self-adjusting, well-contoured detent mechanism opens the visor in stages without twisting — including a first position for extra fresh air in summer heat or to reduce fogging. The included Pinlock EVO lens very effectively suppresses visor fogging even in adverse weather.

Ventilation and Aerodynamics

The GT-Air3 draws air through a two-stage Upper Air Intake at the forehead and a Lower Air Intake at the chin, and exhausts it through repositioned Top Air Outlets plus four upper outlet openings channelled into the EPS liner. Compared with the previous generation, Shoei quotes around 20% more air intake and 80% more air extraction. A removable filter in the lower front vent keeps insects out, and the revised visor detent adds a stable, gap-width first opening position for additional fresh air. Pronounced integrated spoiler edges, smooth transitions between visor and shell, and a slimmer chin area improve aerodynamic performance while reducing noise exposure — independent testers consistently single out the GT-Air3 as one of the quietest touring helmets available.

Comfort and Interior

Distinctly contoured centre pads support air circulation inside the helmet and are — like the three-dimensionally pre-shaped cheek pads and the chin strap cover — fully removable and washable. Centre and cheek pads are available in different thicknesses for individual fine-tuning of the fit. Removable ear pads in the ear area contribute effectively to noise damping. The ergonomically effective centring of the helmet's centre of gravity reduces load on the neck muscles and helps prevent fatigue, on extended tours as well as fast motorway stages. The GT-Air3 follows Shoei's intermediate-oval head shape, and riders who wear glasses report that temple arms slide into place without pressure points.

Size Guide

Measure your head circumference approximately 2.5 cm above the eyebrows, around the widest part of the head. Where your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend trying the larger size first. Fitment and Compatibility

The Shoei GT-Air3 SMART is a full-face sport-touring helmet for road use, suitable for all motorcycle types — no vehicle-specific fitment restrictions apply. Intercom and head-up display integration is designed around the EYELIGHTS system supplied through Shoei's accessory range and fitted into the SHOEI COMLINK interface, which also accepts the SENA SRL3. Compatible CNS-1C visors are available in a wide range of tints and mirror finishes; observe the ECE homologation guidance when selecting a visor. All visors of this type accept an anti-fog Pinlock EVO lens.
