DescriptionThe whole story▼
Full Carbon carries the same idea as Carbon Skin one step further: an anthracite-toned weave rather than a black one, so the pattern reads even under flat light instead of needing a direct source to catch it. Shark's own colour naming for this one, Carbon Anthracite Carbon, says plainly what the eye confirms in the photos — grey-toned fibre, not black, and the only decor in this line's current range built that way. Nothing about the shape changes from the rest of the family; only the tone of the weave does.
The name is literal here
Where Carbon Skin and the graphic Speed-Tech decor share this shell's construction with a finish layered over or around it, Full Carbon is the decor with nothing else competing for attention — the shell material carries the entire visual identity of the helmet. Shark builds it as a carbon-fibre composite shell over multi-density EPS, the same construction the whole Carbon side of this pairing uses, distinct from the standard RS Jet's own shell material sold alongside it at a lower price point.
An open face, and what that costs you
Say it once, directly: this is a jet helmet, and a jet helmet leaves your chin and jaw uncovered below the visor line. There is no chin bar here, no structural guard across the lower face — that space is simply open. What you gain is an unrestricted field of view and a helmet that comes off in one motion without unbuckling a full-face's larger opening; what you give up is exactly the protection a closed shell would have provided in that specific area. Both sides of that trade are real, and neither is hidden here.
What ECE 22.06 actually tests
This shell carries ECE 22.06, the standard that replaced 22.05 as the EU's mandatory approval for newly homologated helmets starting January 2024. The scope of the change is worth knowing rather than assuming: eighteen strike points instead of five, several impact speeds instead of one, and an entirely new oblique-impact test against an abrasive anvil that 22.05 never included — measuring rotational force from a glancing hit, not just the straight-line force a drop test captures. Fitted accessories, visor included, stay on the shell for every test. The price list reads Norme 2206, without any FIM suffix: a road standard, not a competition one.
Weight as a number your neck carries all day
1,430 g for the first, smallest shell size is the figure Shark states for this construction, fifty grams under what the standard RS Jet shell weighs at the same size point. That difference is not felt in a shop, held in your hands for thirty seconds — it is felt at the end of a long ride, in the cumulative effort your neck has put in in over every head movement since you set off, and it is exactly where a lighter shell earns whatever premium it costs.
Ventilation, unobstructed
Side-mounted air inlets feed the visor area directly, with no chin-bar structure for the airflow to route around the way a full-face design demands. Combined with the open lower face inherent to a jet shell, cooling here comes largely from the shape itself rather than from a complicated multi-stage vent system — there is nothing to adjust, close or switch between, which is a limitation in cold weather and an advantage in every other season.
Visor: VZ360, side-locking
The fitted VZ360 visor locks from the side, is designed for long-trip use with free positioning rather than fixed stops alone, and arrives pre-fitted with a Max Vision Pinlock insert with adjustable tension. Anti-scratch treatment is standard, and a four-point anchoring system secures the visor to the shell. Iridium and dark tints for this visor family are sold separately and marked racing use only — not legal for road use on this or any other decor of this shell.
Wind noise, honestly
The lighter shell changes nothing about how loud an open face is at speed: no chin bar means no seal, and that is true of every jet helmet regardless of what its shell is made from. No manufacturer decibel figure exists for this model, so this listing states the underlying physics rather than inventing a number to stand in for one.
Where this decor sits on price
This construction starts at €279.99 for a plain decor, rising to €319.99 for the Speed-Tech graphic version built on the same shell. The standard, heavier RS Jet shell undercuts both at €249.99. Measured against the open-face field more broadly, the LED-equipped Skwal i3 Jet runs €289.99 to €349.99 — this decor sits at the lower edge of that range without the lighting hardware fitted.
| Model | Price range |
|---|---|
| RS Jet (standard shell) | €249.99 |
| RS Jet Carbon, plain (this helmet) | €279.99 |
| RS Jet Carbon, Speed-Tech graphic | €319.99 |
| Skwal i3 Jet | €289.99–€349.99 |
Spare parts, later
The VZ360 visor and its Pinlock 120 insert are common parts across this whole family, standard shell and lighter shell alike, stocked under Shark's own numbering — a scuffed or fogged visor is a routine replacement, not a reason to shop for a new helmet.
Fit from the shell
Sizes run XS through XXL, six in total. How many separate physical shell moulds those six sizes are built from is not stated anywhere in Shark's own material for this decor, so it is left open here rather than assumed to match a differently priced sibling model — a guess dressed up as a spec would be worse than admitting the gap.
What this helmet does not have
No SHARP rating exists for this helmet — the UK programme's own listings return nothing under this name. No MIPS, no DOT or Snell approval, no published wind-noise figure, and no LED system of any kind; the brake-light hardware fitted to the Skwal i3 Jet is not part of this shell's design. Full Carbon is one of three decors currently offered on this construction, and it is the only one of the three without any painted graphic layered over the weave.
In the box
The clear visor ships fitted, its Max Vision Pinlock 120 insert already mounted rather than left loose, together with reflective bands and Shark's standard paperwork. SENA and Sharktooth intercom compatibility is built into the shell without needing an aftermarket bracket, and the anthracite weave itself needs nothing beyond an ordinary microfibre cloth to keep it looking as it does in these photos.
