Pure is the plain line of the Genesis R SV, and gloss white is the version that earns its keep on the unfamiliar roads a modular helmet is bought for.

A chin guard that opens — and the P/J question

A flip-up gives you the one thing a fixed full-face cannot: the chin guard opens at the lights, at a fuel stop, at a border. MT specifies a robust modular locking system to hold it closed.

🔵 MT documents ECE 22.06 but no P/J dual homologation. P/J is what makes riding with the chin guard raised legal in most of Europe — check the approval label before assuming you may.

About the gloss white finish

Touring means roads you do not know and drivers who are not expecting you, and a white helmet at head height is resolved measurably sooner than a dark one in exactly those conditions. There is a thermal argument alongside it that applies to every flip-up: the chin-guard mechanism and its sealing make a modular a warmer object than a fixed full-face, and a pale shell reflects solar load rather than converting it into interior heat. 🔵 The cost is dirt — insect strike and road film show on white sooner than on anything else here, and a flip-up has a chin-guard seam that collects both.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 — and the weight MT does not publish

The shell is HIRP — High Impact Resistant Polymer — a high-strength thermoplastic tuned for impact resistance relative to weight, homologated to ECE 22.06.

🔵 MT publishes no weight figure for this helmet. Around 1650 g is our estimate for a HIRP modular of this class, by comparison with the Atom 2 SV at roughly 1.7 kg. Treat it as an estimate, not a specification.

The integrated sun visor

The integrated drop-down sun visor is the feature that puts the „SV" in the name, and it is the single most useful convenience on a road helmet — glare protection at the flick of a slider, with no sunglasses to carry.

🔵 On a modular it works alongside the chin guard rather than duplicating it: the shield handles light, the chin guard handles air.

The 935 visor and the Pinlock you buy separately

The 935 visor gives a wide field of vision and is ready for a Pinlock® DKS279 or DKS002 anti-fog lens.

🔵 Neither insert is supplied. On a modular used year-round that is the first accessory to buy — a cold commute will mist the visor at every stop without one.

Interior, fit and intercom spaces

The interior is fully removable and washable, with intercom-ready spaces shaped into it rather than left for you to make.

🔵 Wash the lining a few times a season. Sweat breaks down foam over time, and a lining washed regularly lasts appreciably longer than one that never is.

The micrometric closure

Retention is a micrometric ratchet — quick, adjustable in fine steps and workable in gloves, which on a modular fastened at every proper stop matters more than the theoretical advantages of a double-D ring.

🔵 Check the adjustment every few months. A ratchet has a set position that can drift, and the helmet should be snug enough that it cannot be rolled forward off your head.

Where it sits in MT's range

The Genesis R SV is MT's accessible modular, sitting below the Atom 2 SV in the same range. The Atom 2 adds DOT approval, the MT-FSOS and MT-ESLS visor systems, a supplied Pinlock lens and a chin curtain — for around 38 € more.

🔵 If none of those matters to you, this is the same format and the same certification for less.

When something wears out

Everything on this helmet that wears is available separately: the 935 visor, DKS279 / DKS002 Pinlock lenses, cheek pads and the complete lining.

🔵 What cannot be replaced is a crushed EPS liner. After a real impact the helmet is finished, however it looks from outside.
