DescriptionThe whole story▼
Knox calls this colour Sage: an olive-green camo knit that turns the Orsa OR4 Textile into the most outdoorsy glove of the range. It pairs naturally with olive, khaki and black adventure gear while keeping the black Clarino palm and black armour of the other versions.
The OR4 is the updated Orsa OR3, Knox's long-running summer glove. It is CE approved to EN 13594:2015, closes with a redesigned BOA Fit System and comes in sizes XS to 3XL.
Key Features
- Sage camo stretch knit with High Abrasion Resistant Clarino
- Black Clarino palm, single layer, with silicone-printed grip pad
- Floating plastic knuckle filled with Knox Micro-Lock
- Subtle dark reflective print below the knuckle
- 3D-moulded TPR finger parts
- Knox Impact SPS with Micro-Lock on the palm
- Micro-adjustable BOA Fit System
- Seamless wrap-over fingertips and touchscreen function
Why riders like the Orsa
Knox describes the Orsa as a much-loved, best-selling glove and lists the reasons it carried over to the OR4: an exceptional fit, a great hand feel with no breaking in, and the wrap-over finger construction. The sage version adds a colour that looks at home on a scrambler, an adventure bike or a classic roadster.
Materials
The upper blends High Abrasion Resistant Clarino with a stretch camo knit that acts as the breathable fabric base. Knox gives the outer composition as 41.1 percent polyester, 34.2 percent nylon and 24.7 percent polyurethane; Clarino is Knox's strong, sustainable alternative to leather, so the glove is entirely synthetic.
The palm is a single layer of black Clarino to give maximum feel, with a silicone-printed Clarino pad for extra grip on the controls.
Protection on the sage OR4
Impact protection comes from a Micro-Lock filled plastic floating knuckle, with a dark reflective print beneath it that only shows when light hits it. The fingers carry moulded 3D TPR parts against impact and abrasion.
On the palm Knox fits the Impact Scaphoid Protection System with Micro-Lock. Its purpose, according to Knox, is to stop the palm from grabbing the road surface in a slide, reducing the risk of hyperextension that can break the scaphoid. Certification is CE to EN 13594:2015.
Where the sage OR4 belongs
Knox positions the Orsa for riding on city streets and on the open road in warm weather. The sage colour adds a natural fit with gravel tracks and adventure trips in summer, where a light, breathable glove is more pleasant than a heavy gauntlet. For off-road use, keep in mind that this is a short street-certified glove, not a dedicated motocross glove.
BOA closure and touchscreen
For the OR4 Knox redesigned the wrist cuff and the BOA Fit System. The dial lets you micro-adjust the fit around the wrist and release it quickly at a stop. Like all Knox gloves, the OR4 is touchscreen enabled, so phone and navigation stay usable with the gloves on.
Sizing
Measure your palm circumference over the knuckles with a closed fist and your hand length from wrist crease to middle fingertip, then compare with the Knox chart:
- XS: palm circumference 200 mm, hand length 179 mm
- S: 215 mm / 186 mm
- M: 230 mm / 193 mm
- L: 245 mm / 200 mm
- XL: 260 mm / 207 mm
- XXL (2XL): 275 mm / 214 mm
- 3XL: 290 mm / 221 mm
Knox suggests choosing the next size up if only one of the two values matches or if you prefer more room.
What you should know
This is a summer glove without membrane or insulation, so it is not waterproof and not meant for cold days. The cuff is short and sized to go under a jacket sleeve. Knox does not state a CE performance level for the OR4.
Colour
Sage is a muted olive green with a camo pattern that hides light dust and small marks well, better than grey and almost as well as black. It brings a little colour to the bike without being loud and looks especially good with olive, khaki, sand and black outfits. In the sun it warms up slightly less than an all-black glove.
