DescriptionThe whole story▼
In Black the Knox Orsa OR4 Textile shows its most technical side: a textured all-black monochrome camo knit, black Clarino and black armour, with only the BOA dial and a dark reflective print breaking up the surface. It is the update of the best-selling Orsa OR3 and one of Knox's core summer gloves.
The black OR4 is CE approved to EN 13594:2015 and listed in sizes S to 3XL for this order.
Key Features
- Textured all-black monochrome camo knit plus durable Clarino
- Single-layer black Clarino palm for maximum feel
- Silicone-printed Clarino grip pad on the palm
- Micro-Lock filled floating plastic knuckle with reflective print beneath
- 3D TPR mouldings on the fingers for impact and abrasion resistance
- Knox Impact Scaphoid Protection System with Micro-Lock
- Redesigned BOA Fit System for micro-adjustment
- Touchscreen enabled, seamless wrap-over finger ends
What the OR4 update brought
Knox kept the fit, feel and finger construction of the OR3 and changed the details around it. New 3D moulded parts on the fingers add impact and abrasion resistance, the knuckle is now a brand-new floating plastic shell filled with Micro-Lock, and the wrist cuff and BOA Fit System have been redesigned. Reflective details and updated branding complete the refresh.
Construction of the black glove
The upper combines High Abrasion Resistant Clarino with the all-black camo stretch knit for a close, flexible fit. Knox lists the outer as 41.1 percent polyester, 34.2 percent nylon and 24.7 percent polyurethane. The palm is a single layer of black Clarino, chosen to maximise feel, with a silicone-printed Clarino grip pad on top. Seamless wrap-over finger ends keep the fingertips free of pressure points.
Protection
The floating knuckle with Micro-Lock filling absorbs impacts while staying comfortable, and the TPR mouldings protect the fingers. The palm carries Knox's Impact Scaphoid Protection System with Micro-Lock, designed to remove the grab effect of a palm on tarmac and with it the risk of hyperextension, a typical cause of scaphoid fractures. The glove is CE approved to EN 13594:2015.
Fit and closure
With the BOA Fit System you tighten the wrist cuff by turning the dial and release it by pulling, for a secure and repeatable fit. Knox stresses that there is no break-in time: the glove feels right from the first ride. The fingertips are touchscreen enabled for phone and navigation use.
Size guide
Knox uses two measurements: palm circumference around the widest part of the hand with a closed fist, and hand length from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger. Values per size:
- XS: palm circumference 200 mm, hand length 179 mm
- S: 215 mm / 186 mm
- M: 230 mm / 193 mm
- L: 245 mm / 200 mm
- XL: 260 mm / 207 mm
- XXL (2XL): 275 mm / 214 mm
- 3XL: 290 mm / 221 mm
Between sizes or looking for a relaxed fit? Knox recommends the larger size. Note that this black version is listed from S for this order.
Riding use
Knox pitches the OR4 at everyday riding in town and out on the open road whenever it is warm. In black it is the most versatile pick: equally at home on a naked bike for the commute, on a retro roadster at the weekend or with a summer textile jacket on a short tour.
What you should know
The OR4 Textile is made for warm, dry riding. It has no membrane and no insulation, and Knox does not give a CE performance level. If you need a waterproof glove with the same Orsa fit, look at the Orsa Waterproof OR4, which Knox launches for 2027 in black.
Colour
Black is the classic OR4 and the easiest to live with: road dust, insects and grip marks barely show, and it goes with every jacket and bike. The textured camo still gives the surface some depth up close. In strong sun a black glove gets warmer than the grey or sage versions, which you may notice on very hot days.
