DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Knox Action Pro Shirt MK2 is the lightest and most breathable armoured shirt Knox has made, according to the brand. It is a stretchy, close-fitting top that you wear under a riding jacket for extra impact protection, or on its own on warm days thanks to its EN 17092-4 Class A certification.
Knox places it in its athleisure category: it looks and feels like sportswear, yet it carries Micro-Lock Compact armour with Level 1 shoulders and elbows and a Level 2 back protector.
Key Features
- Certified to EN 17092-4:2020 Class A – no jacket required for road riding
- Micro-Lock Compact Level 1 shoulders and elbows (EN 1621-1:2012)
- Micro-Lock Compact Level 2 back protector (EN 1621-2:2014)
- Sorona Agile fabric from DuPont with four-way stretch mesh
- Three welded external pockets: chest zip pocket and two side bellow pockets
- Elasticated mesh cuffs with thumb loops, YKK centre zip
- Velcro mount for an optional chest protector, security belt loops
Two Ways to Use It
Worn under a motorcycle jacket, the Action Pro MK2 adds abrasion resistance and keeps armour tight to your joints, where a loose jacket's pads might shift. Worn alone, it is a Class A road garment: Knox states it can be ridden in with no jacket on warm days.
Because of its active stretch and sporty look, Knox also recommends it for mountain biking, off-road and snowsports, so one shirt covers several hobbies.
Fabric With a Difference
The main fabric is Sorona Agile from DuPont, an eco-efficient fibre partly made from plant-based polymers. It has a subtle piqué texture and, according to Knox, high levels of strength, stretch and stain resistance. It is combined with a lightweight four-way stretch mesh and a monochrome contour fabric.
Stretch mesh panels on the chest, back and under the arms are placed to keep you cool, and the new elasticated mesh cuffs let air in at the wrist.
Armour and Fit
Micro-Lock Compact is Knox's thinnest protector system; Knox says it is up to 60 percent lighter, thinner and more supple than before. Shoulders and elbows are Level 1 to EN 1621-1:2012, the back protector Level 2 to EN 1621-2:2014. A patented Flex and Adapt side closure lets the pads move with you while keeping coverage unbroken.
All armour can be removed for washing. A branded Velcro panel inside the front takes an optional Micro-Lock chest protector.
Pockets and Details
The men's MK2 has three external pockets with seamless welding: a zipped chest pocket and two zipped side bellow pockets. Reflective details, branding and zip pullers add visibility, and a hidden Knox logo appears in the back hem mesh when it stretches.
A soft round collar, a YKK centre front zip, thumb loops in the cuffs and Knox's security belt loop system round it off. Knox's model is 185 cm tall and wears size M.
What You Should Know
The Action Pro MK2 is Class A, the entry level of EN 17092, with Level 1 shoulder and elbow armour. If you want the highest abrasion and impact ratings in an armoured shirt, look at the Urbane Pro (Class AA, Level 2) or Honister MK2 (Class AAA).
It is not waterproof or insulated, and the chest protector is sold separately.
Colour
Black is the only colour, and it suits the shirt's sportswear character: it looks like a technical training top under a jacket or with jeans, and hides marks well. The reflective prints and zip pullers provide visibility at night; in daylight, black alone is not conspicuous, so a brighter outer layer helps in traffic.
