DescriptionThe whole story▼
Braking bumps on the approach to a motocross jump throw more than dust into the air, and a 250 SX landing hard off one jump straight into a bumpy run-up toward the next puts real strain on whatever keeps the chain lined up through the impact. Accossato lists the GCM1 for the 250 SX built from 2011 to 2020, a chain guide fitted ahead of the rear sprocket to keep the chain tracking true through exactly that kind of repeated, jarring landing.
Key Features
- Chain guide for the KTM 250 SX, 2011 to 2020
- Accossato code GCM1, mounts ahead of the rear sprocket
- Keeps the chain tracking on line through hard landings and rough ground
- Orange, blue or black
- Same part also listed for the Husqvarna TC 250 and the KTM 125 EXC
- Accossato also lists swingarm sliders and axle blocks for this bike under GPM1, GSM1, RCM1 and RTM1
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
The GCM1 is shaped for the 250 SX's own swingarm, sitting ahead of the sprocket in the position this bike's design calls for rather than a generic spot shared loosely with other frames. Orange, blue and black make up the available finishes, there to suit the bike's own colours rather than to change what the guide does. Checking that the guide still sits flush after a heavy landing, and swapping it if it does not, keeps it doing its job through the rest of the season.
Landing Hard Off a Motocross Jump
Every motocross track has at least one jump that lands rougher than the rest, and a 250 SX coming down off it straight into a run of braking bumps puts the whole rear end through a sudden jolt that the chain and sprocket feel as much as the suspension does. A guide ahead of the sprocket gives the chain somewhere defined to sit through that kind of impact, rather than leaving it free to shift sideways the moment the bike lands slightly off balance. Riders who jump the same section lap after lap put this part through more repeated stress in a single moto than most trail riding manages in a full day.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's own list runs the 250 SX from 2011 to 2020 for the GCM1, and the same guide also covers the Husqvarna TC 250 along with the smaller KTM 125 EXC, since all three share the swingarm this part is built around. A bike from either end of that run should still be checked against the list before ordering. This 250 SX also takes Accossato's GPM1 slider, GSM1 floating slider and either style of axle block, which some owners add at the same time as the guide.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the GCM1, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for a bike ridden on public roads.
