DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every Multistrada 950 covers great distances. Plenty of them are weekend bikes, ridden on dry Sundays and in the holidays, and they reach their fifth birthday with remarkably few kilometres on the clock. The engine looks almost new, the tyres still have tread, and it is easy to conclude that the brakes must be fine too. Brake fluid, however, ages with time rather than distance. For the front reservoir of the Multistrada 950 from 2017 to 2021, Accossato lists the TS003, an anodised aluminium cap shaped on CNC machines.
Key Features
- Front brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Multistrada 950, 2017 to 2021
- Also listed for the 950 S and the 950 SW
- Made for the original front reservoir
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- Pairs with the FP004, FP007 and TS014 caps for this bike
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
CNC milling turns aluminium into the TS003, and anodising colours it green, blue, orange, red, gold, silver or black. It is designed for the original front reservoir of each bike on the list, so the Multistrada 950 keeps its standard master cylinder and brake system. On a bike that has stood a lot, the diaphragm or seal under the old cap deserves a careful look. Rubber ages with time as well, and one that has hardened or cracked should be replaced.
Low Mileage, Old Fluid
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, slowly but constantly, even while the bike is parked. That is why the owner's manual sets an interval for renewing it, and why a low-mileage Multistrada 950 needs fresh fluid just as often as one used every day. A quick look at the front reservoir helps: with the handlebar turned until it sits level, the fluid should lie between the marks. Its colour tells you something too. Fresh fluid is clear, while fluid that has turned dark has been in the system for a long time. If the service book gives no date for the last change, assume it is due and have it done. The TS003 fits well into that appointment, but it does not replace it. For fitting, lay a cloth over the tank and the fairing, since brake fluid damages paint, and keep water ready to rinse off any drop at once. Open the reservoir only for as long as needed, fit the cap and tighten it gently. Squeeze the lever several times before riding. A weekend bike deserves the same firm lever as a daily one, perhaps even more, because its rider has less routine to fall back on.
Fitment and Compatibility
Across 2017 to 2021, the Multistrada 950 appears on Accossato's list for the TS003, with the 950 S of 2019 and 2020 and the 950 SW of 2018 among the entries; the cap replaces the original on the front reservoir. We catalogue the same cap for the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, the Monster 1200 R and the Aprilia Caponord 1200. For the 950, Accossato also offers the FP004 oil filler cap, the FP007 clutch cover and the TS014 rear reservoir cap. Check the application list against your bike before ordering.
Road Approval
For the TS003 there is no ABE or test mark in our records; we therefore offer it for use in competition.
