Ready zeigt auf glänzend schwarzem Grund eine kräftige rote Grafik und an der Flanke einen Shark-Schriftzug mit roter Konturlinie. Ein direktes, unkompliziertes Dekor ohne Verlaufsspielereien. Getragen wird es vom Skwal i3, dem Modell, mit dem Shark die Sichtbarkeit von Motorradfahrern zur Kernfunktion gemacht hat: In die Schale sind Leuchtdioden eingelassen, die beim Bremsen von allein reagieren, und der Hersteller reklamiert dafür die erste Serienanwendung am Markt.

Rot als Signalfarbe, Rot als Lackierung

Es ist kein Zufall, dass dieses Dekor Rot verwendet — dieselbe Farbe, die auch die hinteren Leuchten abstrahlen. Optisch ergibt das ein stimmiges Bild, funktional sind beide voneinander unabhängig: Die Lackierung wirkt permanent, das Licht nur im Moment der Verzögerung. Genau darin liegt der Unterschied zwischen Auffälligkeit und Signalgebung. Zum Lack selbst: Klarlack in Hochglanz bringt das Rot intensiver zur Geltung als eine matte Ausführung, zeigt dafür feine Kratzer deutlicher. Polituren dürfen hier eingesetzt werden, was bei matten Dekoren nicht gilt.

Wofür der Preis steht

Dieses Dekor kostet 349,99 €. Zum Vergleich: Sharks Straßenreihe beginnt beim Ridill 2 mit 189,99 €, der D-Skwal 3 schließt bei 219,99 € an, und der Skwal Cup bewegt sich je nach Ausführung zwischen 269,99 € und 339,99 €. Keiner dieser drei Helme trägt Leuchten. Neben dem Skwal i3 hat allein der Skwal i Cup ab 329,99 € dieselbe Technik. Der Aufpreis entsteht durch das Lichtsystem, nicht durch eine abweichende Schalenkonstruktion.

Wie das Licht auslöst

Ein Beschleunigungssensor mit drei Achsen sitzt im Helm und misst, wie schnell Ihr Kopf langsamer wird. Bei üblicher Verzögerung blinken die roten Elemente im Heck mit drei Impulsen pro Sekunde, bei starker Verzögerung mit fünf. Weiße Dioden an der Vorderseite laufen unabhängig davon und sorgen dafür, dass Sie auch aus der Gegenrichtung früher wahrgenommen werden. Das gesamte System kommt ohne Verkabelung zum Motorrad, ohne Bluetooth und ohne Smartphone aus — es gibt nichts zu koppeln und nichts zu aktualisieren.

Laden und Abschalten

Die Batterie ist versiegelt verbaut und nicht zum Tausch vorgesehen. Geladen wird sie über USB-C; das Kabel liegt im Nackenschutz bereit. Eine volle Ladung dauert rund drei Stunden und trägt etwa zwölf Stunden im Blinkbetrieb. Danach übernimmt eine Automatik: 60 Sekunden ohne registrierte Bewegung führen in den Bereitschaftszustand, 72 Stunden ohne Nutzung zur vollständigen Abschaltung. Zum Verhalten bei fast leerer Batterie äußert sich die Anleitung klar — einschalten geht noch, aber das System schaltet fast sofort wieder ab und gehört dann ans Ladegerät.

Konstruktion

Die Schale ist aus Polycarbonat gespritzt, Werkstoffmarke Lexan. Innen sitzt ein EPS-Kern mit abgestufter Dichte, der zonenweise unterschiedlich nachgibt statt überall gleich hart zu sein. Der Kinnriemen wird per Mikrometrik-Ratsche geschlossen: Das gezahnte Band rastet ein, liefert eine reproduzierbare Spannung und öffnet mit einem Zug am Bändchen. Der Skwal Cup verwendet an dieser Stelle einen Doppel-D-Ring, der Skwal i3 nicht.

Durchlüftung

Shark beschreibt eine mehrkanalige Führung mit Einlässen vorn und Extraktoren hinten. Stückzahlen nennt der Hersteller nicht; eine unabhängige Redaktion zählt vier Einlässe und zwei Auslässe. Ob sich die Öffnungen schließen lassen, ist nirgends belegt, und wir tragen dazu nichts nach.

Scheibe und Pinlock

Verbaut ist ein Visier der Familie VZ400, die außer beim Skwal i3 auch beim D-Skwal 3, Ridill 2, Skwal Cup und Skwal i Cup zum Einsatz kommt. Es erfüllt die optische Klasse 1, ist kratzfest beschichtet und verjüngt sich von drei auf 2,2 Millimeter; ein Vortex-Generator ist eingeformt. Der Pinlock-70-Einsatz ist ab Werk montiert und in der Spannung nachstellbar, was bei Kälte und Nässe unmittelbar wirkt. Der Wechsel erfolgt werkzeugfrei über den zentralen Griff mit Mittelverriegelung. Selbsttönende IRID-Scheiben stehen für dieses Modell nicht bereit; Shark listet dafür nur AERON GP, AERON und RACE R PRO.

Gewicht und Nacken

Der Hersteller beziffert den Helm mit 1.570 Gramm, wobei sich die Angabe auf die erste und kleinste Schale bezieht, nicht auf Größe M. In einer unabhängigen Langzeitbesprechung steht dieselbe Zahl, wiederum ohne Größenzuordnung. Damit ist der Wert gut gestützt, sein Bezugspunkt nicht — und eine M-Angabe finden Sie hier nicht, weil sie in keiner Quelle existiert. Praktisch wirkt Gewicht kumulativ: nicht beim Aufsetzen, sondern nach der dritten Stunde. Straßenzugelassene Integralhelme aus unserem Angebot liegen ungefähr zwischen 1.250 und 1.800 Gramm, und der Skwal i3 bewegt sich im mittleren Bereich dieser Spanne.

Sonnenblende und Alltag

Der Schieber am Scheitel senkt die innenliegende Sonnenblende ab, was sich auch im Fahren bedienen lässt. Für Brillenträger ist das Innenfutter angepasst. Kommunikationseinheiten der Sharktooth- und SENA-Baureihen lassen sich ohne Umbau anbringen. Die Herstellergarantie beträgt fünf Jahre, Ersatzteile sind verfügbar.

Zum Thema Windgeräusch

Für diesen Helm gibt es in unseren Quellen keine Messung in Dezibel, deshalb steht hier keine Zahl. Was belegt ist: Eine unabhängige Dauererprobung beschreibt den Pegel als nicht ungewöhnlich laut und findet keinen Abschnitt der Schale, der für sich genommen Geräusche erzeugt. Verantwortlich macht die Redaktion das beidseitig kräftige Nackenpolster und einen großzügigen Kinnvorhang. Ihr persönlicher Eindruck hängt zusätzlich von Windschild und Sitzhaltung ab.

Die aktuelle Prüfnorm

ECE 22.06 gilt in der EU seit Januar 2024 für neu homologierte Helme und ist deutlich umfangreicher als die Vorgängerfassung. Statt fünf Aufschlagpunkten werden achtzehn geprüft, statt einer Geschwindigkeit mehrere, und zusätzlich kommt ein schräger Aufprall gegen einen rauen Amboss hinzu, der Dreh- und Reibkräfte erzeugt. Erstmals wird das Brain Injury Criterion für Rotationsbelastung erhoben. Geprüft wird der Helm im vollständigen Zustand, also mit Visier, Pinlock und montierter Kommunikationseinheit. Die Kennzeichnung 2206 steht ohne FIM-Zusatz und bedeutet damit eine Straßen-, keine Rennzulassung.

Größen

Sechs Größen, XS bis XXL. Die Zahl der Rohschalen gibt Shark nicht an, und wir tippen nicht darauf. Für die Passform zählt allein der gemessene Kopfumfang im Abgleich mit der Tabelle.

Ersatzteile für später

Visier und Pinlock-Einsatz sind Teile mit gemeinsamer Artikelnummer, die fünf Shark-Modelle verwenden. Eine zerkratzte Scheibe ist damit ein überschaubarer Nachkauf und kein Grund, den Helm auszutauschen.

Bekannte Lücken

Es gibt keine SHARP-Bewertung für den Skwal i3. Das britische Programm hat Skwal und Skwal 2 mit vier Sternen bewertet — ältere Modelle ohne dieses Lichtsystem, deren Ergebnis hier nicht gilt. Die Homologation lautet ausschließlich ECE 22.06 ohne FIM. Nicht vorhanden sind MIPS, ein elektronisches Notentriegelungssystem, Tear-off-Stifte sowie die IRID-Freigabe; der Verschluss ist eine Ratsche, kein Doppel-D-Ring. Und der Punkt, den Sie kennen sollten, bevor Sie bestellen: Ob das LED-Bremslicht auf deutschen Straßen genutzt werden darf, ist nach unserer Recherche ungeklärt. Shark stellt selbst keine solche Behauptung auf, sondern weist den Fahrer in der Anleitung ausdrücklich an, die Vorschriften seines Landes zu prüfen; ein E-Prüfzeichen oder eine Homologationsnummer für die Leuchte wird nirgends genannt. Keine der von uns geprüften Quellen bestätigt eine StVZO-Konformität, keine verneint sie. Wir melden das als offen. Verbindliche Auskunft geben TÜV oder Zulassungsstelle; auf das Helmlicht sollten Sie sich nicht anstelle der Bremsleuchte am Motorrad verlassen.

Was im Karton liegt

Der Helm mit bereits eingesetztem Pinlock 70, das USB-C-Ladekabel der LED-Einheit im Nackenschutz verstaut, dazu die Herstellerunterlagen: Garantiebedingungen über fünf Jahre und die Anleitung zum Lichtsystem mit dem Hinweis, die nationale Gesetzgebung zu prüfen.
