Die graue Variante des Hellcat Matte verzichtet auf jede bunte Note: mattschwarze Schale, ein klar-graues Visier mit Chromeffekt und eine seitliche Grafik im Tarnmuster-Stil, ebenfalls in Grautönen. Es ist das nüchternste der drei Hellcat-Dekore. Die Funktion bleibt dieselbe wie bei jedem Skwal i3 — in der Schale stecken LED-Bremsleuchten, die bei Verzögerung selbsttätig aufleuchten, und Shark führt den Helm als erstes Serienprodukt mit dieser Lösung.

Erst die Einschränkungen, dann der Rest

Wir beginnen mit dem, was viele Beschreibungen ans Ende stellen. Für dieses Modell gibt es keine SHARP-Bewertung; getestet hat das britische Programm den alten Skwal und den Skwal 2, beide mit vier Sternen, beide ohne Lichtsystem — übertragbar ist das nicht. Homologiert ist ausschließlich nach ECE 22.06, ein FIM-Zusatz fehlt. Nicht verbaut sind MIPS und ein elektronisches Notentriegelungssystem; das Visier hat keine Tear-off-Stifte und ist für Sharks selbsttönende IRID-Technik nicht freigegeben. Der Kinnriemen schließt per Ratsche, nicht per Doppel-D-Ring. Und der schwerwiegendste Punkt: Ob das eingebaute Bremslicht auf öffentlichen Straßen in Deutschland betrieben werden darf, ist nach unserer Recherche offen. Shark beansprucht selbst keine Zulassung, sondern überträgt die Prüfung der nationalen Vorschriften in der Bedienungsanleitung dem Fahrer, und für die Leuchte wird kein E-Prüfzeichen und keine Homologationsnummer ausgewiesen. Keine von uns geprüfte Quelle — weder Hersteller noch unabhängige Presse — erklärt die Leuchte für StVZO-konform oder für unzulässig. Das ist keine Formulierungsvorsicht, sondern der tatsächliche Stand. Verbindliche Auskunft geben TÜV oder Zulassungsstelle; das Fahrzeugbremslicht bleibt in jedem Fall maßgeblich.

Das Visier mit Chromeffekt

Ein klar-graues verspiegeltes Visier dämpft grelles Licht, ohne die Farbwahrnehmung so stark zu verschieben wie eine bunte Tönung. Trotzdem gilt für verspiegelte Scheiben generell: Sie sind für helle Verhältnisse gedacht. In Sharks VZ400-Familie sind die Iridium-Tönungen Blau, Pink und Rot ausdrücklich der Tagfahrt vorbehalten, Silber und Gold sogar nur dem Rennstreckenbetrieb. Ob die hier montierte Scheibe in eine dieser Kategorien fällt, geht aus den uns vorliegenden Unterlagen nicht hervor, weshalb wir es nicht behaupten. Für Nachtfahrten empfiehlt sich ohnehin eine klare Zweitscheibe aus derselben Familie.

Funktionsweise des Leuchtsystems

Gesteuert wird alles von einem im Helm verbauten Sensor, der Beschleunigung über drei Achsen erfasst. Er erkennt, dass gebremst wird, weil Ihr Kopf langsamer wird — es besteht keine Verbindung zur Bremsanlage, kein Adapter am Fahrzeug, keine Funkstrecke. Normale Verzögerung führt zu drei Impulsen pro Sekunde an den roten Heckelementen, harte Verzögerung zu fünf. Davon getrennt leuchten weiße Dioden an der Front für die Erkennbarkeit nach vorn. Eine Kopplung per Bluetooth ist nicht vorgesehen, entsprechend gibt es auch keine App und keine Firmware, die man pflegen müsste.

Batterie, Ladung, Ruhezustand

Der Akku ist fest verbaut und nicht für einen Wechsel ausgelegt. Geladen wird über USB-C, das Kabel bewahrt Shark im Nackenschutz auf. Eine volle Ladung dauert etwa drei Stunden und reicht für ungefähr zwölf Stunden Blinkbetrieb. Das System spart eigenständig Strom: Nach einer Minute ohne erkannte Bewegung geht es in Bereitschaft, nach 72 Stunden ohne Nutzung schaltet es ab. Ist der Akku nahezu leer, beschreibt die Anleitung das Verhalten ausdrücklich — einschalten lässt er sich noch, doch der Helm geht beinahe sofort wieder aus und gehört dann ans Ladegerät.

Was 22.06 an Prüfungen verlangt

Der Helm trägt die aktuelle europäische Norm, seit Januar 2024 Pflicht für neu homologierte Modelle. Die Unterschiede zur Vorgängerfassung sind substanziell: achtzehn Aufschlagpunkte statt fünf, mehrere Aufprallgeschwindigkeiten statt einer einzigen, zusätzlich ein schräg geführter Aufprall auf einen rauen Amboss, der Dreh- und Reibkräfte erzeugt statt eines senkrechten Falls. Erstmals wird das Brain Injury Criterion als Maß für Rotationsbelastung erhoben. Und geprüft wird der ausgestattete Helm mit Visier, Pinlock-Einsatz und angebrachter Kommunikationseinheit. Auf dem Etikett steht 2206 ohne FIM-Ergänzung.

Materialaufbau und Verschluss

Die Schale besteht aus spritzgegossenem Polycarbonat der Sorte Lexan. Die Stoßdämpfung übernimmt ein EPS-Körper aus mehreren Dichten, der zonenweise unterschiedlich nachgibt. Der Kinnriemen wird über eine Mikrometrik-Ratsche geschlossen: Das gezahnte Band rastet ein, liefert jeden Tag dieselbe Spannung und öffnet mit einem Zug. Der Skwal Cup setzt hier auf Doppel-D-Ringe, dieser Helm nicht.

Belüftungsöffnungen

Luft strömt vorn ein und hinten wieder aus — Shark spricht von Mehrkanalbelüftung. Konkrete Zahlen nennt der Hersteller nicht; eine unabhängige Testredaktion zählt vier Einlässe und zwei Extraktoren. Zur Frage, ob die Öffnungen verschlossen werden können, liegt keine belastbare Angabe vor.

Die Scheibe im Detail

Der Skwal i3 verwendet Visiere der Serie VZ400, die auch an D-Skwal 3, Ridill 2, Skwal Cup und Skwal i Cup laufen. Die Einstufung lautet optische Klasse 1, die Stärke verjüngt sich von drei auf 2,2 Millimeter, und ein Vortex-Generator ist in die Kontur eingearbeitet. Die Oberfläche ist kratzfest beschichtet. Ein Pinlock-70-Einsatz gehört zum Lieferzustand und lässt sich in der Anpressung nachstellen. Der Wechsel gelingt werkzeugfrei über einen zentralen Griff mit Mittelverriegelung.

Gewicht in Zahlen und im Nacken

Die Herstellerangabe lautet 1.570 Gramm und bezieht sich auf die erste, also kleinste Schalengröße. Eine unabhängige Fachpresseerprobung nennt denselben Wert, ohne die Größe zu präzisieren — die Zahl ist damit gut abgesichert, ihr Bezugspunkt bleibt es nicht. Wer eine große Größe fährt, liegt darüber; eine M-Angabe existiert in keiner Quelle, und wir denken uns keine aus. Von Bedeutung ist das für lange Etappen, weil sich Helmgewicht im Nacken summiert. Zur Einordnung: Straßenzugelassene Integralhelme aus unserem Programm liegen etwa zwischen 1.250 und 1.800 Gramm.

Sonnenblende und Alltagsdetails

Ein Schieber am Scheitel bringt die innenliegende Blende in Position, ohne Halt und ohne Visierwechsel. Das Futter ist für Brillenträger angepasst. Sprechanlagen der Reihen Sharktooth und SENA finden ohne Modifikation ihren Sitz. Die Garantiedauer beträgt fünf Jahre, Ersatzteile sind erhältlich.

Akustik

Einen gemessenen Schallpegel gibt es für dieses Modell in unseren Quellen nicht, und wir führen keine erfundene Zahl. Belegt ist die Beobachtung einer unabhängigen Langzeiterprobung: kein ungewöhnlich hoher Geräuschpegel, keine einzelne Stelle der Schale, die für sich Windgeräusche erzeugt. Verantwortlich dafür macht die Redaktion das beidseitig kräftige Nackenpolster und einen großzügigen Kinnvorhang. Wie ruhig es im Einzelfall wird, bestimmen Windschild und Sitzhaltung erheblich mit.

Größen

Sechs Stufen von XS bis XXL. Die Anzahl der Rohschalen nennt Shark nicht, und eine Schätzung gehört nicht in eine Produktbeschreibung. Maßgeblich ist der Kopfumfang laut Tabelle.

Preiseinordnung

379,99 € kostet diese Ausführung. Im Vergleich: Der Ridill 2 startet bei 189,99 €, der D-Skwal 3 bei 219,99 €, der Skwal Cup rangiert zwischen 269,99 € und 339,99 € — alle ohne Leuchten. Das einzige weitere Shark-Modell mit LED-Bremslicht ist der Skwal i Cup ab 329,99 €. Innerhalb der Skwal-i3-Reihe zählt der Hellcat Matte zu den teureren Dekoren, was am verchromten Visier liegt.

Später nachbestellbar

Visier und Pinlock-Einsatz gehören zu einer Familie, die fünf Shark-Modelle gemeinsam nutzen, und laufen unter denselben Artikelnummern. Eine zerkratzte Scheibe macht den Helm damit nicht obsolet.

Das Tarnmuster im Alltag

Graue Tarnmuster auf mattem Schwarz sind zurückhaltend gedacht, und das ist bei einem Sichtbarkeitshelm eine bewusste Entscheidung: Die Signalwirkung soll vom Licht kommen, nicht vom Lack. Matte Oberflächen haben den praktischen Vorteil, feine Kratzer kaum zu zeigen; im Gegenzug vertragen sie keine scharfen Reinigungsmittel oder Polituren. Ein weiches Tuch und mildes Mittel genügen. Wer den Helm überwiegend im Berufsverkehr fährt, wird vom Bremslicht mehr haben als von jeder Lackierung, weil dort ständig gebremst wird und der Abstand hinter Ihnen klein ist.
