Ein Kinnteil, das sich öffnet — und die P/J-Frage
🟢 Eine Ein-Tasten-Entriegelung ist der praktische Unterschied zwischen einem Klapphelm, den man benutzt, und einem, den man nicht benutzt: Wer beide Hände braucht, klappt das Kinnteil an der Ampel nicht hoch.
🔵 Zur offenen Stellung im Fahrbetrieb: Eine P/J-Homologation ist von MT nicht dokumentiert.
Zum matten Grau
Grau ist der Ton, zu dem viele nach dem zweiten Helm greifen, und die Gründe sind praktischer Natur. Gegenüber Schwarz liegt die Helligkeit weit genug oben, dass sich die Silhouette vor Asphalt und Baumreihe noch abhebt. Gegenüber Weiß bleibt eine Fläche, die Staub und Regenschlieren nicht bei jedem Halt vorzeigt — bei einem matten Lack, der ohnehin schwerer zu reinigen ist, zählt das doppelt. Die zweite graue Fassung im Programm, Highlands C2, ist glänzend und trägt eine Zeichnung; wer beides nicht will, findet hier die Alternative. 🔵 Eine Wetterlage bleibt ungünstig: nasser Asphalt unter bedecktem Himmel, wenn die Fahrbahn selbst grau wird. Dann liegt der Helm im Kontrast dicht an seinem Hintergrund, und Jacke oder Warnweste müssen die Arbeit übernehmen. 🔵 Zur Pflege: Die matte Struktur hält Insektenreste fest und darf nicht poliert werden, weil dabei glänzende Stellen entstehen, die sich nicht mehr angleichen lassen.
HIRP, ECE 22.06 und DOT
🟢 Zwei Zulassungen auf einem Klapphelm dieser Preisklasse sind nicht selbstverständlich: ECE 22.06 für Europa, DOT für die USA. Der eng verwandte Genesis R SV hat nur ECE.
Die Schale ist HIRP-Thermoplast mit einem Heckspoiler, der den Luftauslass aufnimmt.
MT-ESP — eine Sonnenblende, die den Windabweiser trifft
🟢 Eine innenliegende Blende hat gegenüber einem getönten Visier zwei Vorteile: Sie geht nicht verloren, und sie lässt sich im Fahren bedienen — bei einem Klapphelm besonders wertvoll, weil ein Visierwechsel dort umständlicher ist.
Beim Atom 2 SV ist es die MT-ESP mit erweiterter Abdeckung.
MT-FSOS, MT-ESLS und die Pinlock-Scheibe im Karton
🟢 Die automatische Antibeschlagstellung des MT-FSOS ist ein Detail, das man im Winter täglich nutzt: Das Visier rastet einen Spalt offen ein, sodass Luft zirkuliert, ohne dass man es ganz öffnen muss.
🟢 Dazu kommt die eigene Belüftungsstellung des MT-ESLS und eine beiliegende Pinlock® DKS512.
Der Doppelhaken-Verschluss
Eine mikrometrische Ratsche erlaubt feinere Abstufungen als ein Doppel-D-Ring und lässt sich mit Handschuhen bedienen. 🟢 Beim Atom 2 SV kommt die Doppelhaken-Verriegelung dazu, die gegen versehentliches Öffnen sichert.
Der Verschluss heißt MT-Micrometric+ mit MT-MDTC.
Ein Spoiler, der den Auslass verdeckt
🟢 Zur Belüftung kommt bei diesem Helm eine zweite Ebene dazu: Das MT-ESLS bietet am Visier eine eigene Belüftungsstellung — einen definierten Spalt, der Luft einlässt, ohne dass das Visier ganz offen steht.
🟢 Der Auslass sitzt verdeckt im Heckspoiler.
Innenfutter, Passform und der Windabweiser
Zur Pflege: von Hand waschen, ein paar Mal pro Saison. Maschinenwäsche verformt die Schaumeinlagen, ein Trockner zerstört sie — das ist der häufigste Grund, warum ein Futter vorzeitig ausleiert und der Helm zu locker sitzt.
🟢 Beim Atom 2 SV lässt es sich komplett herausnehmen; Wangenpolster gibt es einzeln.
Interkom-Vorbereitung
🔵 Was der Helm mitbringt, ist die Möglichkeit — nicht die Elektronik. Ein Interkom ist ein separater Kauf.
🟢 Für Tourenfahrer ist ein Headset auf einem Klapphelm besonders praktisch: Man kann bei geöffnetem Kinnteil sprechen und trotzdem verbunden bleiben.
Wo er im MT-Programm steht
🟢 Für wen ein Klapphelm die richtige Bauart ist: Pendler, Tourenfahrer, Brillenträger. Ein Klapphelm trägt 150 bis 250 Gramm mehr als ein fester Integralhelm — das ist der Preis für die Bequemlichkeit an jedem Halt.
🔵 Wer das Kinnteil nie öffnet, zahlt Gewicht ohne Gegenwert.
Wenn etwas verschleißt
🔵🔵 Ein Wartungspunkt, den nur Klapphelme haben: Prüfen Sie Drehpunkt und Dichtungen des Kinnteils einmal jährlich. Staub und Wasser sind das, was einen Klappmechanismus festsetzt — nicht Verschleiß.

Take out the washable lining and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Clean the shell and visor with a soft cloth and water only — never solvents.
