DescriptionThe whole story▼
When lap times matter and every tenth of a second counts, the Sitta front sprocket D001 gives Ducati Panigale 899 riders a genuine competitive edge. Machined from high-tensile chrome-molybdenum steel and engineered to exacting tolerances, this is the sprocket choice for track-focused 899 owners who refuse to compromise on drivetrain precision.
Key Features
- Chrome-molybdenum steel construction delivers outstanding resistance to wear, heat and the shock loads generated under hard acceleration on track
- Four tooth options — 14, 15, 16 and 17 teeth — allow precise gearing adjustments to suit any circuit layout or riding style
- Compatible with both 520 and 525 pitch chains, giving flexibility for those converting to a lightweight 520 chain kit
- Precision-machined profile ensures zero play on fitment, clean engagement with every link and consistent power transfer lap after lap
- Equally suited to spirited road riding, offering tangible improvements in torque response and acceleration feel
Gearing Your Panigale 899 for the Job
The front sprocket is the most cost-effective gearing adjustment available to a track rider. A single tooth change alters the overall ratio significantly, and the Sitta D001 range makes that tuning process straightforward.
Smaller tooth counts (14 or 15 teeth) shorten the overall gearing, sharpening acceleration out of slow and mid-speed corners and raising the engine into its power band more rapidly — the preferred choice for tight, technical circuits.
Larger tooth counts (16 or 17 teeth) lengthen the gearing, reducing peak revs at speed and extending top-end reach. This suits high-speed tracks, long straights, or riders who want a more relaxed engine note on the road without sacrificing outright performance.
Build Quality
Sitta sources chrome-molybdenum steel specifically for its superior strength-to-weight ratio and fatigue resistance compared to standard carbon steel. The alloy maintains its geometry under sustained high-torque loading — exactly the conditions a Panigale 899 generates when exiting corners at full throttle. The result is a sprocket that stays true over many thousands of kilometres, protecting the chain and rear sprocket from the accelerated wear that a distorted front sprocket causes.
