The Nexx Y.100 is a lightweight full-face helmet for the city and for the open road. Nexx lists a wind deflector among the included accessories of the Y.100, and this listing is the genuine replacement part. Nexx itself calls the piece a chin wind stopper: it closes the opening between the lower edge of the chin bar and your chin.
Look and construction
The Nexx product photo shows a curved, padded piece with a smooth, leather-like black centre panel, a stitched fabric border and a firmer black lip with small notches along the lower edge. The shape follows the inside contour of the chin bar, so it fills the gap without pressing on the chin.
Why riders use it
On a full-face helmet a lot of the air and noise you hear comes in from below. With the deflector in place, less cold air reaches the face and the neck on the motorway, and the cabin of the helmet becomes calmer. In summer traffic some riders take it out for more airflow, which is easy because it is not screwed in.
Fitting it
The Y.100 and Y.100R manual shows the chin deflector with two steps, remove and apply, and marks it as available in some models. It is pressed into the lower rim of the chin bar from inside and can be pulled out again by hand. Make sure it sits evenly all the way round; a deflector that stands out on one side lets air whistle past.
