The peak extensor is the clip-on lip that lengthens the off-road peak of the Nexx X.LIFECOUNTRY. Nexx supplies it with the helmet and describes the peak as lightweight and aerodynamic, with a removable, adjustable extensor for greater sun protection. This is the original replacement extensor in black.
Three positions
The extensor slides into a holder on each side of the peak. According to the X.LIFECOUNTRY manual the holder has three positions, so you can set the lip shorter or longer to suit the sun angle, your riding position and how much of the view ahead you want to keep. Choose position 1 for a compact look, position 3 for the most shade when riding into a low sun.
Why riders replace it
- It was lost while the helmet was being used without it.
- A branch, a fall or a stone strike has cracked the lip.
- The holder lugs no longer grip and the extensor sits loose in its position.
Installing and removing
To remove the extensor, the manual shows it being pulled out of the holes on both sides and lifted away, after which the separate peak extensor covers close the openings. To fit it, take out the covers, push the extensor into the holders on both sides and select the position you want. No tools are needed.
Riding note
A longer peak catches more air. If you notice lift or buffeting at higher speed, try a shorter setting or ride without the extensor on fast road sections.
Fitment
For the peak of the Nexx X.LIFECOUNTRY, in both shell sizes and for the carbon as well as the X-Matrix 2 versions, as Nexx lists a single extensor. The X.LIFETOUR has no peak and cannot take this part. When the extensor is off, keep the peak extensor covers fitted, which are also available as a spare pair.
