DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plain gloss white, no graphic. On a helmet built to cover distance rather than to be looked at, it is the finish that does the most work and asks the least attention.
An HPFC composite shell in three sizes
The shell is HPFC — LS2's high-performance fibreglass composite — and the complete helmet weighs about 1500 g (±50 g). That is light for a touring full-face carrying a drop-down sun visor.
🔵 Three outer shell sizes cover eight helmet sizes from 2XS to 3XL, so a small head gets a small shell rather than a large one packed with foam.
No independent safety rating — and nothing to borrow
🔵 The Challenger II has no independent safety rating. SHARP has no Challenger or Challenger II entry, and Certimoov has not tested it either.
Unlike LS2's FF811 Vector II — where SHARP rates the composite version — there is nothing here that could be transferred, not even from a sibling shell.
Airflow from the top down — and no chin intake
Ventilation is a crown intake feeding channelled EPS, with rear exhausts drawing the air back out. Routing the ducts through the liner foam is what gets airflow to your scalp instead of stalling it under the shell.
🔵 There is no chin intake. That is a deliberate touring choice, and it is covered in full below.
About the solid white finish
A touring day is a long series of moments where a driver decides whether the gap is clear, and what they are deciding about is an object at windscreen height moving against a background that is not. Value — how light that object is — decides how quickly it registers, and white sits at the top of the scale. The margin is largest in flat overcast light, which is what a European autumn supplies for weeks at a time and what a distance rider cannot plan around. There is a heat argument for summer touring specifically: stationary in traffic there is no airflow to help, and a pale shell reflects solar energy that a dark one converts into liner temperature. 🔵 The cost is upkeep, and a touring helmet collects more fly strike and motorway film than any other kind. Gloss cleans faster than matt, which helps. It also shows dirt honestly, which on equipment you should be inspecting regularly is arguably a feature rather than a nuisance. It is one of the four cheapest here. If you are choosing between this and the Nardo grey at the same price, the split is genuinely between conspicuity and upkeep. White is easier for a driver to resolve on a grey afternoon; grey is easier to live with across a touring season. Both are the same helmet with the same composite shell and the same equipment.
Seeing out: visor, sun shield and the Pinlock in the box
The visor is wide and hardcoated, with a double-injection seal and a button lock. Behind it, a tinted sun visor is built into the shell, deployed by a slider and stowed completely out of sight.
🟢 The Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™ anti-fog insert is included rather than sold separately.
Holding on, and letting go
Retention is a reinforced chin strap with a micrometric metal buckle, alongside an emergency cheek-pad release and a metal safety plaque on the shell.
🔵 The plaque matters at borders: it is the homologation proof in physical form, and unlike a printed label it does not wear off.
The part you actually touch
The lining is COOLMAX® — breathable, quick-drying, treated to be antibacterial and hypoallergenic — and the chin curtain attaches magnetically, with no poppers to fight with cold hands.
🔵 Everything comes out for washing, and cheek pads are available in other thicknesses.
Where it sits in LS2's range
The Challenger II is LS2's composite touring full-face — built for the ground between city traffic and motorway, sealed and quiet enough for stages ridden in one go.
🔵 Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint: four plain finishes and nine slightly pricier graphics, sharing one shell and one equipment list.Care and replacement parts
The parts that wear are all replaceable: the visor, the internal sun visor, the Pinlock insert, cheek pads in several thicknesses, the complete lining, the magnetic chin curtain and the vent covers.
🔵 The EPS is not among them. It crushes once and does not recover.
