A New Generation, A New Switch
KTM redesigned the Super Duke R cockpit for the 1390, and the switch housing follows that redesign rather than the outgoing 1290 part. A quick-action throttle removes the factory block regardless of generation, and this unit is cut to the newer connector and bar geometry specifically.
Variable Timing Underneath
The 1390 runs a V-twin with two intake cam profiles, switching between them as load and revs change, which lets KTM claim a flatter spread of power than a single-profile engine typically manages. None of that changes how the switch mounts, but it explains why the bike rewards a shorter throttle action.
One Housing, Two Jobs
KTM's CAMSHIFT system gives the 1350cc LC8 two intake cam profiles and switches between them according to load and revs. The result is a flatter spread of power than a single-profile big twin usually manages, and a flatter spread is also what makes a shortened throttle feel predictable rather than abrupt.
Bronze on the New Bodywork
The 1390's bodywork introduced a different colour and graphics treatment to the range, and a bronze-anodised switch sits against it as a visible, deliberately finished component rather than disappearing into the factory black plastic the standard switch uses.
No Harness Surgery
Anodised bronze against the 1390's own graphics and colour scheme reads as metal rather than as an aftermarket afterthought, which suits a model range KTM updated specifically to look different from the 1290 it replaced, panel by panel as well as part by part.
