DescriptionThe whole story▼
A bike left outside a shop or a café for twenty minutes can still end up on its side before the rider gets back to it, and a naked bike like the XSR900 has nothing to protect the controls when that happens. Accossato's AGD287 is a black front brake lever in the original form, listed for the XSR900 across 2016 to 2021, built for exactly that kind of everyday mishap.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the Yamaha XSR900
- Accossato lists the AGD287 from 2016 to 2021
- Black finish
- Right-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, priced for repairs rather than tuning
- Accossato reports better resistance after damage or a fall
- One lever supplied
- No German ABE or test mark on file; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's own description calls this an original spare parts type, which in practice means the AGD287 copies the black lever the XSR900 already wore rather than departing from it in any way, so a tip-over does not have to end in a mismatched cockpit. The firm states, separately, that the process behind making these levers leaves the finished part tougher once it has already taken a hit, and it prices the range for everyday repair jobs rather than performance work. No finish other than black is quoted, and nothing further is said about the material itself.
Off the Side Stand in Seconds
It takes very little for a parked XSR900 to go over: a side stand that was not quite on firm ground, a sudden gust while unattended, or simply a bump from someone passing too close, and the brake lever is almost always the first thing to make contact with the floor. Picking the bike up and checking the lever before riding away is worth the extra minute, because a bend that still lets the lever move is not the same as one that is actually safe to trust. Fit the AGD287 with the pivot cleaned and lightly greased, then check the brake finds a firm point at a standstill.
Fitment and Compatibility
This black lever is shared well outside the Yamaha range, turning up under both the BMW G310GS and the G310R in our catalogue, which says more about common parts bins than about any family connection between the brands. An XSR900 finished with a silver lever instead needs the AGD221, and either way the clutch lever on this bike is the AGS01. A tuning option for this fitment is listed under EDF016 and ESY688.
Road Approval
No approval paperwork reached us with the AGD287, so no German ABE and no test mark can be quoted for it, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
