DescriptionThe whole story▼
While the MT-09's front end has carried two different Accossato slider codes over the years, the rear has a single answer: the PP080, covering the bike from 2017 onward. By that point in its life, a well-used MT-09 is as likely to be parked outside a rented flat as a house with a driveway, and shared bike storage areas or communal bin yards bring their own risk of someone else's bin, bicycle or trolley catching the back of the bike. Accossato lists the PP080 for the MT-09 of 2017 to 2020.
Key Features
- Rear axle sliders for the Yamaha MT-09, 2017 to 2020
- Accossato PP080, a left and a right protector
- Aluminium and plastic construction, black
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, as stated by Accossato
- PF040 and PF055 front sliders, plus TP063/TP097 crash pads, also listed for this bike
- Sacrificial parts, renewed after a heavy impact
- Same pair listed for the MT-09 SP, Tracer 900 GT and XSR900
- No German ABE documented; offered for racing
Construction and Material Quality
The PP080 is made up of two black protectors, each combining aluminium and plastic, fitted one to each side at the rear of the bike. Accossato packs the spacers, screws and other mounting parts into the same kit. In a shared storage area, where other people's bins, bikes and trolleys move around close to parked motorcycles, the sliders are there to meet the ground first if the MT-09 is knocked over from behind, which can reduce the harm to the swingarm and the rear axle area. They are built to be used up in that role, and a slider that has taken a heavy knock should be exchanged.
A Shared Bin Yard or Storage Area
Flats and terraced housing often share a communal yard for bikes, bins and bicycles, a space that nobody fully controls and where a bin wheeled out in a hurry, a neighbour's bicycle leant carelessly, or a delivery trolley can easily clip a parked bike from behind without anyone noticing until later. The bike's own balance on its side stand offers little resistance to a sideways knock at the rear, and a shared space rarely has the room to park with much of a safety margin. Choosing a corner away from the main thoroughfare, where possible, and checking the bike each time it has been left among other people's belongings, both help. If the MT-09 is knocked over this way, the rear sliders take that first contact; check them, the chain and the exhaust before the next ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the PP080 for the MT-09 across 2017 to 2020, and our listing matches that. At the front, either the PF040 or the PF055 sliders apply depending on the bike's year, and the TP063 and TP097 crash pads are also listed for this model. In our shop, the PP080 additionally covers the MT-09 SP, the Tracer 900 GT and the XSR900. Please compare your MT-09 with the application list before ordering, or ask us to check it.
Road Approval
No ABE or test mark has been supplied to us for the PP080, so we list it for racing and competition purposes.
