DescriptionThe whole story▼
Washing the mud off a V85TT 850 after a day on forest tracks takes a hose, a brush and patience, and an open thread above the top yoke is exactly the kind of spot grit likes to pack into and stay. Accossato's SC006 removes that pocket, a closed steering stem nut threaded M29x1, aluminium anodised in eight colours, for the V85TT 850 of 2019.
Key Features
- Steering stem nut, closed pattern, for the Moto Guzzi V85TT 850
- Accossato's year: 2019
- M29x1 thread
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Covers the stem thread fully, unlike the open SA006
- Fixes the upper triple clamp to the steering stem
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The SC006 comes off Accossato's CNC machines as an aluminium nut and is anodised in eight colours, orange included, one more than the open SA006 made for the same bike. Its closed shape caps the stem completely rather than leaving the thread open, which on a bike ridden off tarmac means one less place for grit to sit. The thread remains M29x1, and the nut still does the one job every version of it does: holding the upper triple clamp to the steering stem.
After the Gravel, Before the Next Ride
A V85TT that has spent a day on unsealed roads usually gets a proper wash before it goes back in the garage, water and a soft brush working into every seam the ride collected. A closed nut like the SC006 gives that routine one less awkward spot, since there is no open thread to work a brush into or to leave half-dried with grit still inside it. Beyond the wash, the nut is steering head hardware like any other, fitted with the torque figures and bearing settings the V85TT's manual sets out, usually during a service rather than on its own.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list for the SC006 covers the Moto Guzzi V85TT 850 for 2019. The identical closed nut is also catalogued for the Moto Guzzi Stelvio 8V NTX 1200, the V7 III Special and the V9 Roamer. On the V85TT, Accossato also offers the open SA006.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE or test documentation for the SC006, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
