DescriptionThe whole story▼
The blue Zero Pro adds a single deep colour to the exposed weave without covering it — the most restrained way of making a bare carbon shell something other than black.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
The rear spoiler, the vent housings and the hard aperture line are what make this helmet recognisable at fifty metres, and all three are functional. Nexx describes the spoiler specifically as a performance part — improving airflow, cutting drag and adding high-speed stability.
🔵 Independent testing scored the helmet 3.9/5 overall, with noise measured at 100 dB.
About the Zero Pro Carbon Blue finish
Single-accent finishes on exposed weave age far better than full liveries, because the carbon does most of the visual work and the accent carries no reference to a season's palette. Deep blue against 3K weave is a particularly good pairing: both are dark, so the contrast is in hue rather than in value, and the helmet reads as one object rather than two. It also gives the shell a reference point that pure carbon lacks, which makes the shape read more clearly from a distance. 🔵 The exposed areas carry the usual caveat — a scratch into the weave cannot be repaired.
The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell
The X-Foam bumper at the chin is common to both shells and worth understanding: an ultralight EPP layer at the point a full-face helmet most often strikes first, absorbing impact energy before the shell alone has to.
Above it here: the X-PRO Carbon 3K shell at 1600 g, in three outer sizes covering XXS to XXXL.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
The Anti-Vibration EPS is shared across Nexx's premium range and it does something different on each helmet. Here, on a fast road shell, its job is head stability at motorway speed rather than damping trail buffeting.
The mechanism is the same: a rubber trim between inner and outer EPS, allowing controlled micro-movement.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
Fogging is decided at low speed — traffic, junctions, waiting — where there is no airflow to clear a visor. The fitted Pinlock 70 MaxVision lens covers the full width of the aperture rather than leaving a clear border top and bottom.
🔵 Order replacements as DKS553; it is specific to this helmet.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
Splitting the EPS into two shells gave Nexx a gap, and the Mid Airflow Chamber is what they did with it — fresh air circulating around the head between the shells rather than over the crown alone.
🔵 The same split carries the Anti-Vibration rubber layer. One structural decision, two functions, and a measured ventilation score of 4/5.
How quiet it actually is
Noise fatigue is cumulative over a riding day in a way a single measurement cannot convey, and 3 dB is a doubling of sound energy rather than a small step. A helmet at 100 dB rather than 103 is meaningfully quieter over six hours.
🔵 The independent score was 4 out of 5 — the best of Nexx's premium helmets in the same reviewer's testing.
Interior, retention and fit
🔵 Why simultaneous cheek-pad release matters. Removing a helmet from someone with a possible neck injury is one of the highest-risk things a first responder does, and every extra manipulation adds movement.
F.R.S.® frees both pads in one tool-free action — rubberised arms up, red buttons back. Worth showing a riding partner how it works.
1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 A manufacturer's weight claim confirmed on a scale is worth noting. The composite X.WST3 is quoted at 1675 g and was measured at 1673 g — which gives the 1600 g carbon figure more credibility than most published numbers deserve.
It is still heavy: weight scored 2 out of 5 in the same test.
Comms, camera and spare parts
The serviceable parts list on this helmet: both visors, Pinlock DKS553 lenses, cheek pads, crown pad, chin-strap covers, breath guard and the internal sun visor.
🔵 Between them they cover everything except the shell, the two-part EPS and the X-Foam chin bumper — none of which is replaceable after an impact.
