DescriptionThe whole story▼
Lava is the other top finish and takes the opposite approach to Hadal: a single hot colour worked hard against the exposed weave rather than a narrow range of cool ones. It is the most dramatic version of this helmet.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
The X.WST3 is Nexx's road-focused full-face and the most distinctive-looking helmet they make. The rear spoiler is functional, the shell is built in Portugal, and the helmet carries four separate market approvals.
🔵 It is not an adventure helmet and does not pretend to be — no peak, no goggle provision, no off-road capability.
About the Lava Carbon graphic
The value gap is the whole point here. Where Hadal keeps everything dark and lets the design emerge slowly, Lava sets a saturated red against near-black weave for maximum separation — which means it reads as a graphic from much further away. On a streetfighter helmet, where the design is a large part of what you are buying, that is a legitimate priority rather than an excess. It is also the most conspicuous carbon version in traffic. 🔵 Red fades faster than most pigments under sustained UV, and the exposed weave alongside it cannot be touched in if scratched.
The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell
Three outer shell sizes across eight helmet sizes is generous and it is what keeps the smallest X.WST3 in proportion. XXS–S, M–L and XL–XXXL each get their own shell.
The construction here is X-PRO Carbon 3K at 1600 g, with an X-Foam EPP bumper at the chin and four market approvals.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
Nexx built the X.WST3 around a two-part EPS liner and everything else follows — the Mid Airflow Chamber uses the gap, the Anti-Vibration rubber layer fills part of it, and the weight reflects both.
🔵 Independent testing scored the helmet 2/5 on weight and 4/5 on both noise and ventilation. The construction explains all three.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
Two consumables on this helmet are worth keeping spares of, and the Pinlock lens is one — the seal loses grip and the surface clouds after a few seasons, and a fogged Pinlock is worse than none at all.
🔵 The code is DKS553. The second item is the visor itself, and Nexx already supplies a spare.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
The complete ventilation specification: six intakes, two exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation, the patent-pending Mid Airflow Chamber between the EPS shells, and the Air Cumbs alveolar-mesh crown pad.
🔵 Independent measurement scored it 4 out of 5 — better than either of Nexx's adventure helmets managed.
How quiet it actually is
A helmet that looks like this has no business being quiet, which is what makes the measurement interesting. 100 dB and a 4/5 score come from a functional rear spoiler, a double-lip visor seal and a two-part EPS that damps shell vibration.
🔵 Earplugs remain worthwhile on any sustained fast ride.
Interior, retention and fit
Everything that touches skin comes out: cheek pads through the F.R.S. mechanism, crown pad and chin-strap covers separately, and the breath guard is removable too.
🔵 Retention is a metal micrometric ratchet with an X-LOCK magnetic catch, and the fit was independently found intermediate-to-round oval and glasses-friendly.
1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 If weight is your deciding factor, buy the carbon and accept that this remains a substantial helmet. If it is not, the composite version gives you the identical shell shape, EPS structure, visor system, sun visor and comms provision for noticeably less.
Carbon: 1600 g. Composite: 1675 g claimed, 1673 g measured.
Comms, camera and spare parts
Everything on this helmet that wears is available separately: visors, Pinlock DKS553 lenses, cheek pads, crown pad, chin-strap covers and the breath guard. Nexx builds the helmet in Portugal and supports it with its own parts range.
🔵 Carry the supplied spare visor in its bag rather than loose — a loose visor in a pannier is a scratched visor within a week.
