DescriptionThe whole story▼
Pure is the plain line of the Track SV, and gloss white is the version that does most for you on the mixed-surface riding a dual-sport helmet is bought for — unfamiliar roads, unfamiliar drivers, and long stretches in whatever light the day supplies.
Four SHARP stars — the only MT helmet that has any
SHARP rated the Track SV 4 out of 5 stars — tested April 2026, to ECE 22.06, on an example weighing 1.6 kg. It is the only MT helmet in the SHARP database, which makes it the only one in the range with independent, verifiable crash-test evidence.
🔵 Four stars is a genuinely strong result at this price. The programme buys helmets at retail and destroys them in a laboratory; MT has no involvement in it.
About the gloss white finish
A white helmet at head height is the single brightest object a rider carries, and on the kind of riding this helmet is aimed at — country roads, gravel, trails and the tarmac between them — being resolved half a second earlier matters more than on a familiar commute. There is a thermal argument alongside it: much of a dual-sport rider's time is spent at speeds too low for airflow to help, and a pale shell reflects solar load that a dark one converts into interior heat. 🔵 The cost is dirt, and this helmet gets genuinely dirty rather than merely dusty — trail spray, insect strike and road film all show, and the peak collects its own share. It cleans up completely; it will not stay clean on a trip, and that is worth accepting before you buy rather than resenting afterwards. Against that, it is the coolest-running shell in the range in summer and the easiest to spot at a junction in November.
Dual-sport — a full-face with a peak
The Track SV is a dual-sport helmet: a full-face shell with an adventure peak on top, built for riders who move between asphalt and light off-road rather than committing to either.
🔵 The peak shades your eyes and deflects roost off-road, and it catches air on a motorway. That is the trade every peaked helmet makes, and it is worth being deliberate about how much tarmac your riding involves.
HIRP, ECE 22.06 — and two different weights
The shell is HIRP — High Impact Resistant Polymer — and MT quotes 1.5 kg, which is light for a dual-sport helmet. 🔵 SHARP weighed their tested example at 1.6 kg.
Both figures are on this page because you should have both. A 100 g difference is normal between a manufacturer's figure and a scale reading; it is not normal to hide one of them.
The MT-ESP retractable sun visor
The MT-ESP retractable sun visor drops at the flick of a slider and retracts fully into the shell — glare protection ahead, where the peak cannot help.
🔵 Peak and sun visor cover different angles: the peak handles light from above, the shield handles light in front. Having both is what makes this a genuinely all-day helmet.
The HS-12 visor and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
The HS-12 main visor is optically clear and impact-resistant, and it is ready for a Pinlock® DKS 623 anti-fog lens or a FogOff insert.
🔵 Neither is supplied. On a helmet used in cold, wet and slow going — which is most of what a dual-sport does — that is the first accessory to buy.
ERS — the Emergency Release System
ERS — the Emergency Release System — lets first responders pull the side pads out of the helmet, so it can be lifted off an injured rider without being forced past the jaw. Far less movement of the head and neck, at the moment it matters most.
🔵 It is the feature nobody thinks about until it is needed, and one of the reasons the Track SV's specification is stronger than its price suggests.
Interior, fit and intercom preparation
The interior is removable, washable, antibacterial and quick-drying — which on a helmet used off tarmac matters more than on a road one, because the padding collects dust as well as sweat and is often needed again the next morning.
🔵 A UCS intercom pre-installation is built in. No system is supplied — check speaker depth as well as diameter before buying one.
The micrometric closure
Retention is a micrometric ratchet with a double-tooth engagement — quick, adjustable in fine steps and workable in gloves, which on a helmet taken on and off at every trail stop matters more than the theoretical advantages of a double-D ring.
🔵 Check the adjustment every few months; a ratchet's set position drifts with use.
Where it sits in MT's range
The Track SV is MT's only dual-sport helmet and, more importantly, the only MT helmet with an independent safety rating. That alone makes it the one to look at first if verifiable test evidence matters to you.
🔵 Its nearest sibling is the District SV S, MT's trail helmet, which has not been tested.
When something wears out
Everything on this helmet that wears is available separately: the HS-12 visor, DKS 623 Pinlock lenses, the peak, the sun shield, cheek pads and the complete liner.
🔵 What cannot be replaced is a crushed EPS liner. After a real impact the helmet is finished, whatever it looks like — and whatever its star rating.
