DescriptionThe whole story

Papercut pairs grey with red under a matt finish — the most conventionally sporting version of a helmet that otherwise leans entirely retro, and the most conspicuous of the five.

A café-racer shape on a 2026 shell

A café-racer shape suits a particular kind of motorcycle, and it is worth being honest that the appeal here is largely visual. The Jarama SV is a competent everyday full-face; what makes it interesting is that it does not look like one.

🔵 It is also, at around 1475 g, the lightest full-face MT makes.

About the Papercut C15 graphic

Red against a mid grey ground is the pairing that survives dirt best in this range: road film and insect strike read as a haze on pale grounds and largely disappear on mid ones, so this version still looks presentable at the end of a wet week. Red is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against grey tarmac, which puts it among the more conspicuous options here without going fluorescent — and on a helmet used in traffic, that is a functional argument rather than a styling one. Under matt the red reads as pigment rather than as paint, which keeps it in the same register as the rest of the helmet instead of turning the Jarama into a sports lid. 🔵 Red pigment fades faster than most under sustained ultraviolet, and matt clear coat is washed rather than polished — there is nothing to buff a mark out of. Keep the helmet out of direct sun when parked and the red will hold its depth for years rather than seasons. Of the two graphics here this is the one that suits a bike ridden hard rather than posed with — the Wild C2 is the more decorative of the pair, and this is the more useful.

HIRP, 1475 grams, ECE 22.06 and DOT

🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet. SHARP has never listed the Jarama SV, and there is no ADAC or Snell result — nor any published road test. That means untested rather than poorly rated.

What it holds is ECE 22.06 and DOT certification, on a HIRP shell of roughly 1475 g.

Sizes — read this before ordering

Five sizes from XS to XL is narrower than most helmets at this price, and it is the one specification that will simply rule this helmet out for some riders.

🔵 MT's Thunder 4 R SV covers XS to 3XL on a similar platform if you need a larger size with a sun visor.

The full-coverage sun visor

If you wear prescription glasses, a drop-down shield is far more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor — it goes up and down without removing anything.

🔵 The Jarama SV's is full-coverage, which on a helmet with a relatively compact aperture means it genuinely covers what you look through.

MT-V-32, the rubber lip and the anti-fog insert you buy separately

Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.

🔵 Wet it first, every time. The quick-change mechanism makes replacing a scratched visor straightforward when the time comes.

How quiet it is — and what we actually know

🔵 Earplugs are not an admission that a helmet is loud. Hearing damage from wind noise is cumulative and permanent, and it happens at speeds most riders consider ordinary — a set of moulded plugs is the best comfort purchase after the helmet itself.

MT's low-noise claim for the Jarama SV is unverified by any independent test.

The MT-MDHC closure

🔵 A loose strap is the most common way a helmet fails to do its job, and it has nothing to do with the shell. If the helmet can be rolled forward off your head with the strap fastened, it is either too big or too loose.

The MT-MDHC closure adjusts finely enough to fix the second problem. It cannot fix the first — and with only five sizes here, the first is worth checking carefully.

Interior, fit and intercom preparation

Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description settles for you. A loose helmet moves under braking and rotates in a crash; a tight one produces a headache at forty minutes.

🔵 Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes, and remember the range stops at XL.

Where it sits in MT's range

🔵 If an independent safety rating is part of your decision, note that only MT's Track SV currently carries one — four SHARP stars. The Jarama SV has never been listed.

Every current MT holds ECE 22.06; this one adds DOT.

When something wears out

🔵 A word on visor care, because it prevents most of the visor sales we make. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.

Wet it first. The rubber-lipped seal also benefits from being kept clean; a dirty seal is the usual cause of a whistle.

“The retro shape is the reason to look and the price is the reason to buy. It is a full-face rather than an open helmet, which costs it ground in this category, and the ventilation is its weakest area.”
