Das Standard-Straßenelement für dieses Luftfiltergehäuse ist für neun Voge-Modelle katalogisiert. Dieses hier ist für fünf katalogisiert, und alle fünf tragen denselben Namen: Valico. Sprint Filter erklärt seine Passgenauigkeitslisten nicht, und nirgends steht, warum vier um dasselbe Gehäuse gebaute Modelle bei diesem hier weggelassen wurden. Die Liste ist die Aussage. Diejenigen, die das Material vermessen haben, entschieden, wohin es gehört, und die Valico DS von 2020 landete auf der kurzen Liste.

Eine kurze Liste ist eine Empfehlung
Passgenauigkeitslisten werden meist als mechanische Frage gelesen – passt es hinein? – und für die meisten Teile ist das auch alles, was sie sind. Diese hier trägt eine zweite Aussage in sich. Die auf ihr fehlenden Voge-Modelle teilen sich das Gehäuse, sodass nichts an ihren Luftfiltergehäusen dieses Element am Einbau hindern würde. Was sie von der Liste fernhält, ist eine vom Hersteller getroffene Einschätzung der Luft, der sie voraussichtlich begegnen, nicht eine Entscheidung am Ladentisch. Umgekehrt betrachtet, kommt auf der Liste zu stehen einer Empfehlung so nahe, wie ein Katalog es kann: Von der auf diesem Gehäuse aufgebauten Voge-Palette sind die Valico DS und DSX die Modelle, die Sprint Filter 7 Mikron für wert hielt.
Was sieben Mikron kosten
Eine ganze Menge Durchfluss, und die Zahl verdient keine Beschönigung. Das Standardelement in diesem Gehäuse ist mit 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek bewertet; der CM251T12 mit 7 Mikron und 560. Das ist etwa ein Neuntel der Luft durch eine gegebene Materialfläche, die größte Stufe im gesamten Sprint-Filter-Programm, und das ist der gesamte Preis des Rückhaltevermögens. Auch handelt es sich hier um kein Leistungsteil: Ein in ein Serien-Luftfiltergehäuse eingesetztes Element wird einer Standard-Valico-DS keine zusätzliche Leistung bringen, und eines, das dafür gebaut ist, Luft zurückzuhalten, ist der unwahrscheinlichste Kandidat dafür von allen. Es wird für das gekauft, was nie den Motor erreicht.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft, gerichtet auf die saubere Seite, damit die Last auf dem Weg austritt, auf dem sie kam, ist der Service, um den der CM251T12 herum konzipiert wurde. Wo eine nasse Fahrt Staub in etwas Klebrigeres verwandelt hat, löst lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel es; spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Getrocknet wird an der frischen Luft, so lange es dauert – eine Heizung, eine Heißluftpistole oder eine Flamme würden das Element endgültig zerstören –, und es wird trocken und unbehandelt wieder eingebaut.
