Maschinen in Rally-Ausstattung werden aus sehr vielen Gründen gekauft, und viele von ihnen legen den Großteil ihrer Strecke auf befestigten Straßen zurück oder stehen mit der Laufleistung eines Zweitmotorrads in der Garage. Der Sprint Filter PM155T12 wird nicht danach ausgewählt, wofür ein Motorrad gebaut wurde. Er wird danach ausgewählt, was dieses konkrete Motorrad mit seinen Tagen tatsächlich anfängt.

Was ein Modellname nicht verrät
Fitment-Listen und Modellnamen beschreiben Hardware, nicht Nutzung. Eine Rally-Ausstattung verändert den Tank, die Sitzhöhe und den Federweg — nichts davon beeinflusst, wie viel mineralischer Staub an einem beliebigen Dienstag durch den Luftfilterkasten strömt. Zwei Rallys mit aufeinanderfolgenden Rahmennummern können völlig unterschiedliche Leben führen, und die, die durch einen europäischen Winter pendelt, hat von einem 7-Mikron-Medium nicht mehr Nutzen als jedes andere Straßenmotorrad. Die Spezifikation muss aus dem Fahrverhalten kommen, und nur der Fahrer weiß, wie das aussieht.
Der Test, der sich lohnt
Zählen Sie die Tage, nicht die Vorsätze: ganze Tage auf unbefestigtem Untergrund, in Staub, der von den vorausfahrenden Rädern und den eigenen aufgewirbelt wird, in einer Trockenzeit oder einem trockenen Land. Machen diese Tage einen echten Anteil des Jahres aus, ist dies das dafür ausgelegte Medium, mit einer Rückhaltegrenze, die mehr als zehnmal feiner ist als beim Standardgewebe. Ist das nicht der Fall, ist der Tausch ungünstig, denn die aufgegebene Durchflussmenge wird durchgehend aufgegeben — auf etwa einem Neuntel der Nenndurchflussmenge des P08, bei jeder Fahrt, die das Motorrad je unternimmt. In keinem der beiden Fälle handelt es sich um ein Leistungsteil. Ein Austauschelement macht eine Serien-890-Adventure-R-Rally nicht schneller; was es bietet, ist ein niedriger Ansaugwiderstand zu Beginn, den die Reinigung immer wieder auf diesen Ausgangswert zurückführt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Auf dieses Element wird niemals etwas aufgetragen. Wartung bedeutet: einen Kompressor an die saubere Seite des PM155T12 halten und nach außen arbeiten, sodass der Staub durch die Fläche austritt, die ihn aufgehalten hat. Hat eine Saison mehr eingebracht, als Luft entfernen kann, löst handwarmes Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel den Rest — spülen, bis das ablaufende Wasser klar ist. Getrocknet wird ausschließlich an der frischen Luft, da jede Art von Hitze und offener Flamme die Fasern schädigt, und eingebaut wird erst, wenn keine Feuchtigkeit mehr vorhanden ist. Für die KTM 890 Adventure R Rally, Baujahre 2021 bis 2026, im unveränderten Luftfilterkasten. Sechs Maschinen tragen diesen Code: die Rally, die 790 und 890 Adventure, die 1090 Adventure, die 1290 Super Adventure sowie die Husqvarna Norden 901.
